this was in one of the no-auto mags i get, called family handyman http://www.familyhandyman.com/

I needed to get some lumber for a project, so I decided to take my extended cab pickup to haul it. The project called for a 16-ft. 2x4. This was obviously too long to haul in the box, so I opened the back window of the cab and slid the 2x4 through to rest on the dashboard. I tied a red flag on the extra few feet of the 2x4 that hung out past the box. On the way home I decided to stop for coffee. To keep anyone from tampering with my lumber, I thought I'd back into a parking space against the building. Completely forgetting about the long 2x4 sticking out the back of the box, I heard a loud crash and glass flew everywhere. The 2x4 resting on the dash was shoved through the front windshield when it hit the building behind. That was an expensive 2x4! - Mark Schultes

Hell, you don't need an extended cab to do that. Way back in '68 I was impressing my new wife with my problem-solving skills - how do you carry 10-foot 2x4's in a Volkswagen bus with all the seats in? Just jay it on top of the seats with the ends resting on top of the dash. Well of course some fool pulls out in front of me, I slam on the brakes, the lumber exits through the windshield (just on her side, split window bus), and she's really impressed. We're still married and still doing do-it-yourself projects, she even helped me cut the top off my LUV!

Lol Man I wish my wife would get into my vehicles like that ! I took her for a ride a couple of weeks ago to get her car and she vowed she would never ride in my truck again until I fixed the exhaust 8O Well I just had some new exhaust put on two months ago it's just that It still sucks a little inside cause I have no vent window on the passenger side so it creates that vacuum and still brings in a little bit.

I put a piece of that primed mdf board through my dodge window. It was an 86, crew cab, long bed and I thought it was cool I could open the bed window and put on 16' trim boards and lay them on the dash. it had a big canopy so it would all stay dry. $1000 window later, i realized that SLICK wood would slide foreward without any effort at all. DOOUHHH 8O
