i'm wondering if theres another way to get more power out my 4 banger. i was thinkin a new carb, new head,or a new exhaust intake.what do you guys think? i put the flowmaster exhaust and k&n filters on her and thats made a big improvement 8O .i just want some more power till i have enough cash to buy a new car and put the luv in the shop for a 350 or something like that.while i'm on the subject,i heard the troopers had 4 banger turbos in them.is that true.i can get my hands on one of them real easy.i just need some power thats not going to take forever to put in since mines a daily driver.thanks in advance.

I dont believe they make an after market intake or head for the 1.8. Ive heard of people running a header and a Weber carb with pretty good results though. Good luck, Bryan

U could also find somebody to port your head and intake, but make sure they know what they're doin....should give u a few extra ponies. I saw a company(dont remember the name) who made a header few years ago, I was gonna get one till i noticed it was for 76 and up (mines a 75). How does the fourbangger sound with the flowmaster?

hmmm...just saw that u said its a daily driver so porting is probably out of the question unless u find somebody that can do it on the weekend or something.

Dont even bother porting, You wont benefit from the port job with the stock cam and valves. Save your money. Bryan

it sounds pretty good..not as loud as the cherry bomb i had but a high muffle sound.it backfires like crazy right now cause my distributer is off.it was a pain to get on coming from the small exhaust going to the 2 1/4 flowmaster. i looked all over town for a adapter but couldn't find one.must have some good hangers though.i swear the flowmaster weighs atleast 50 pounds.

Aw man you can a pretty good bit of power out of those 1.8s.
I deceided to get a little more power from mine so i deceide to do a few upgrades, i got a 2 barrel prossive holly carb that probably flowed around 450-500 cfms add a exhaust header and mangetic pickup(lot better than points) i had just a little work on the block just decked and bored i got the head ported poslished cc'ed stock value job new springs, and balanced all of it, i propbaly got around 125-150HP out of it,

Invest in a pacesetter header, I got the pacesetter and I have flowmaster on my stock LUV and it feels like it pulls harder. You might want to look into taking off your air pump belt thingy to get rid of the backfiring, you'll get that when you put flowmaster or any performance muffler on it. Also, get the Webber carb, biggest mistake I made was buying the rebuilt Hitachi over a Webber :x

For the money why not just drop a V8 or V6 in it? Years ago I had a pipe dream of building the stock G180 4 banger into a nitorus breathing monster, then I found out how much it was going to cost. It was cheaper to do the V8 for me.
