Hey everyone! I'm moving to Waco, Texas next month and I was just curious how strict the emission laws are there. I currently am in Oklahoma and it's pretty lax here. I have a '79 LUV and I've taken all the emission stuff out of it and hope I don't have to put it back in. If anyone can give me a little info on the Texas laws I would be very grateful. Thanks.

Its pretty relaxed here in Tx. they really dont care on the emissions here.

like on my 5.0 mustang for a example. i took my smog stuff off and i took my tail pipes coming out of my flowmasters and dumped them off infront of the rear end. and it still passes inspection. and like on my 81 Pro Street Luv. i dont have smog on mine cause i did a V-8 Conversion with custom 4 inch side-pipes and 2 chamber 40 Series Flowmaster and it will pass. bout the only town that you would might have trouble is the El-Paso Area.

but anywhere from the Ft-Stockton to the Odessa/Midland Area,Monahans Lubbock area east ward you'll be safe on emissions

well soon, i forget when, were going to be having emission testing. And if its not 25 years or older it has to have all the emissions junk on it. Thats what i heard at least.

yea its 25 years or older. it mostly depends on the county you live in. here in harris county its pretty tough. i actually had to put a catalytic converter on my luv to make the hydrocarbons low enough to pass. and it didn't even come with one when it was new. i took it back off as soon as i got home. but then again mine is not 25 years old yet. i hear that even on 25 years old you still habe to have all the stuff it came with on it, they just look to make sure its all there. but that could probably depend on the inspection station. i'm pretty sure waco is not this tough, cause here in houston the pollution is so bad, so they make the standards for the emission tests harder.

Thanks for everything guys. My LUV isn't quite 25 yet, but it will be by the time I have to get it inspected I think. I surely hope I don't have to put the smog crap back on it. Other than that the only problem I think I might have is the very large chip in the windshield directly in front of the steering wheel. I'm going to find out if that can be fixed without replacing the whole glass. Thanks again!

You poor poor soul.....

I lived in Waco for 2 years goin' to TSTC. I will never go back. Be sure to go see the branch dividian complex though......the branch dividians are still there...

I was a state inspector for a few years in Texas. Unless Waco has been designated a "non containment area" in the past few years, all they really look for is a heat riser tube, stock emissions equipment, and catalytic converter. Go to the Chevron off the circle (ask anyone where the circle is) they'll take any pesky extra money off your hands for a pass...I worked there. Tell that Pakistinian Yosef that Tod says "Blow me"

Good luck, and if anyone tells you that Baylor chicks are easy....theyre lying
