These pictures have been a long time coming....

Image
You can see the donor vehicle for the V8 Project next to it.

Image
I was trying to get a picture of it's weird stance. The front is higher than the back, and I haven't gotten around to cranking on the bars yet.

Image
This one captures it a little better, I think.

Image
Every gauge on this thing is dead, so I had to add the tach to get some kind of idea how fast I am going. 2200 RPMs at 45mph. Pitiful.

Image
Here's a pic of the 3.8. It runs like it belongs there, but it really needs different gears and an overdrive to feel stock.

Image
It must be a good motor.... It says so right on the valve cover.

So there they are. I've been driving it nearly every day for a couple of weeks now, and it really likes to run hot. Whoever did this V6 conversion really did the bare minimum. Stock radiator, stock rear, stock everything else. What do you guys think?

Nice truck, it looks real good for an old LUV. I wanted to ask about the rims, I really like them. I wouldn't mind getting those rims for my LUV. Do you know what kind they are, so I could look for them for sale anywhere? Thanks.

It sounds like how my truck was before. It was bare minimum too to get it on the road. But it's fun to drive anyway so it's not a bad thing. Get an aluminum radiator for it and an electric fan. That will help with the cooling but you need a new axle to fix it for good. You'll lose that really cool acceleration but you'll get acustomed to it and the truck runs cooler so you dont have to stress out about it. And im still using a tach to calculate speed. Your most likely used to that by now so getting a speedometer would be more hassle than it's worth.

Those are just good ole chrome modular rims. I had set on my luv back in high school (1983 8O !!). They should be easy to find, I know discount tire sells them for about $40 a piece but if you do a little looking around, I bet you can get a set for $40. I gave mine away a loooooonnngg time ago. Just look for a 14x6, 6 lug rim and you will be set. 8)
p.s. if you do find some, don't get the center caps! They are a waste as the rattle will drive you crazy!!! :(

Yep, the 2wd and 4wd have the same bolt pattern. My set of wheels before the chrome mods were the stock white spokes off a 4x4 LUV.

Tilted- Are you talking about discounttire.com? I went to the site and found what looked like the modular rims, but I couldn't find them in the size 14x6 rim. They had 15" sizes but I don't want anything but 14". Can you help me to find the modulars in 14" somewhere? I'm interested in these rims and I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Nobody makes 14" rims anymore. 15" is as small as you can get new. Your limited to finding used ones. Maybe somebody on ebay has something you want. That or look around in the classifieds or swap meets to find a set

I had wheels like those on my truck back in the day. I was showing off going around a curve reeeealy fast and with a bit of understeer it hit a curb and had a VERY hard time finding another one. that was in 1991 give or take a year. they are Western 10 hole wheels. maybe that will help. you might want to try some of the hub cap dealers in your area. we have several around here. they might be able to get ahold of some for ya.
hope this helps!

congrats on the V6.....could be worse....it could have the 4 banger in it....
:D
