I need to get this Viper alarm removed from the truck. It keep the blinkers on no matter what I do, and keeps draining the battery. I am guessing it must have some short of tilt, or impact sensors, as it will kill the ignitions if I hammer the gas pedal ,or corner really hard.

The starter is acting a little odd. I am guessing these rusting slip joint on the drivers side header or goin to have to be worked loose. any boy got an ideas on what to start soaking them in? I have been spraying them with PB blaster every day for about three days.

Pull it off at the head and see if you can twist or wiggle it. They should slip out fairly easy.

It has been running like it is running out of fuel. time to check the lines and filters. I am going to start by removing and changing the fuel line and filter to the carb. this is the fuel line where it bolts to the carb on the 1972 Chevy Luv truck. The filter can be seen in the left hand part of the picture. There is some sort of plastic red covering over the Black rubber hose so that it makes it look better.

Still not right on the fuel end of it. I took off the air cleaner, and it was pouring gas in to the secondary part of the carb. I am guessing Its time for a rebuild. This is the number on the airhorn. Looks like 48 to me.

After a carb rebuild it runs much better. It still has some missing, and I believe a ignition problem. I had set the dwell at 25 when I installed the new points. When I checked the dwell today it was at 18. I reset the dwell to 28 Degrees and set the timing to 8 degrees BTDC. It ran ok until the ballast resistor got to hot to touch. Its off to the store to see if anybody still has a ballast resistor in stock.

I found this at AutoZone. It is listed for a 1970 440 Chrysler 300.

Just looking at the carb interior, I would say that there is or has been water in the gas tank! And still could be. Just take a soda can and cut it in to a short cup and pull a front carb lower bowl screw and use the can to catch the fuel and see if there is any water in the fuel. The looks of the outside of the carb is way to clean for it to be contaminated like it was on the inside. Water would make it run rough and crappy! Also if this is a SBC or a V6 you can run a (SP) Pertronics module in the dizzy for electronic ign. way better than points.

This 1972 Chevy luv has What I believe is a 350 small block in it. Ya, there has been some H2O in it at some point I think. It sat some place in FL for about tens years I think before I got it. I went to change the plugs the other day, and one of them require a little work. If you remove the rubber inner fender panel I can at least see it buried under the header. This is a shot of the drivers side. The metal tube you see is the steering shaft. The torsion bar also is snaking around in there some where.

If you put on a 5/8 wrench with the bend toward the motor you can turn it just to get to the next flat by reaching up between the header, around the torsion bar, and between the frame.

All the plugs are in. It runs a little better. Was working on it and it just died. Trouble shooting it to no gas a filter. It seem this thing is no longer working. The hoses look like they could be replaced as they are rotten. Guess its time for a fuel system upgrade and rebuild.

To get the tank off I have to remove the fill hose to fender bolts.
