Hey all so I need help identifying a very small piece of metal I found in my head. I did an engine rebuild about 5000.00 miles ago and had no hiccups until recently when I started getting symptoms of a worn camshaft, inconsistent idle,misfiring, hard starting.

I went ahead and dismantled the head and found shimmer, pulled the rockers and inspected cam/journals and all. Luckily the cam and cam journals were in pretty good condition, just microscopic scoring was about it.

However, I did find a very very small chewed up piece of metal, what I'm assuming is the culprit that caused all my problems.
The only other thing I noticed wrong with the head was one of my valve stem seals had broken, I went ahead and replaced it with a new one.

The metal object I found is a half circle (I'm guessing that at one point in time it may have been a full on cylinder) tiny little piece. I have no idea what it is or where it came from. Please help me identify it, thanks for all the help!

Looks like a valve stem keeper. Questions like this don't belong in builds/projects section unless it's in your own build thread. Maybe stock or modified section?

Yes, that's half of what holds the spring and valve together. There's another half somewhere.
