I've been watching the site for some time now, and decided I should probably make an account and share my truck. It was completely impulsive, saw it sitting in someones front yard for $1000, so Of course I drove it home for $750.

It's a 1979 Chevy Luv 4x4 with the 1.8L Isuzu Motor and an odometer reading of 99,000 miles.

The truck has had some work done to it but nothing major. Looks as if it had been maintained with the basics, like regular oil changes, new thermostat, water pump, etc. But the motor leaked a lot of oil out of the head gasket and the valve cover.

When I purchased the truck, I was just planning on driving it since it got better gas mileage than my jeep, and I was commuting to a farm daily.

This is going to be a mild build, mostly restore.

As of now, I have the motor out and have replaced every gasket, as well as replaced all clutch components. Before the motor goes in I need to check the flatness of my flywheel and the contact of the flywheel to my starter (due to starting problems). I'm also replacing all the hoses and cleaning up the wiring.

When I purchased the LUV it also came with about 5 boxes of stock/extra parts that came off the truck.

(I'll post pictures once i figure out how to)

Nice little truck, heck for 750 that seems like a great deal too.
I paid more for mine and it didn't even run, hadn't for like 8 years.
How'd ya get it so clean? I rented a Hotsy brand hot steam cleaner for a motor last year, came out great like yours. Looks like a great start.

Lol,I don't have a garage either,so anything done is done outside. My 79 4x4 ran when I paid the same 750 at the end of 2015,but only at WOT. I've never driven it,just pushed around the driveway while I tinker with it. My first Luv,bought new in 76,was a great little truck. I did rebuild the engine in that one,at 135k, on my kitchen table.lol No wife yet, still had hair and an ass...keep up the progress pic, looking good so far.

Looks like a good deal. I hope that mine will look that good one day. I like the cardboard 'To Do' List! Where at in Oregon are you located? Looks like someone already repaired the floor pans with some diamond plate?

Going to school in Klamath Falls. And that diamond plate is just sitting on the floor because if is covering up a rust hole I will have to cover eventually.

Borrowed an engine hoist and was able to get the motor in, as well as the rest of the parts I needed in order to finish the truck and get it back on the road.

However, I started pulling my dash apart seeing if I could salvage the dash due to it being cracked. Debating whether or not it is salvageable or if I should just pull the fpadding completely off and leave it as the shell and bed-line the metal underneath.

If the dash is not to bad they sell a plastic shell you can glue on over the factory dash pad. I have seen some that look pretty good.

The 4x4 should be fun up there.

What's the toggle switch next to the light switch for?

And do you know what brand those side window deflectors are? They look really sweet.

The dash is pretty beat up. You can see how bad it is in one of the first pictures I posted.

The switch is for an aftermarket fuel pump. And not sure on the side window deflectors. I can take a look though
