Slowly settling in on a theme for my LUV and it's looking to be a bit of a retro-pop modern style build. Touchscreen and all.

Gonna reserve a few posts below for major progress updates and the like, until then here are your before pictures... (Interior to be added)

I'm just now realizing that apparently you can't edit a post? Or am I missing something obvious here?

Anyways, initial plans are as follows...
→ Interior → 1) Remove dash & deep clean; 2) Mock up Raspberry PI touchscreen to existing radio cutout & draw out necessary cuts; 3) Measure opening & distance to possible HW mounting points (for Raspberry PI controller + AMP) & start designing 3D model for the housing

→ Exterior/Chassis → 1) Buy lowering blocks (debating between 3" and 4", thoughts on this appreciated); 2) Get quote on powdercoating (semi-gloss gunmetal) for all chrome trim/bumpers/wheels; 3) Remove non-functional lightbar; 4) Clean, scuff, & spray bed liner

→ Rust repair → 1) Front Cab Mounts: Start weighing options for patchwork here. Start buddying up to welder friends; 2) Inner fender/wheel well (passenger side): Same as cab mounts, should be a much simpler repair though.

→ Performance → 1) Draw up a few options for EFI conversion (I keep seeing comments that it should be straightforward/bolt on but haven't seen a post of anyone doing it? Might be missing something, will look into this more); 2) Exhaust: Clarify Header options (I see a lot of mention of the Pacesetter headers, will look at non-4:1 options too so I don't kill low-end torque), For the head-back probably run full custom w/ high-flow cat + a pair of resonators (possibly no muffler. Thoughts on noise level?)

There is a short edit window, I believe...

I might be mistaken, but I think you can edit whenever, except in the classified section. I’ll check the settings later.

Nope, because I edited my above post due to lack of spelling. I still had the edit option for a couple of hours, then it went away...

Interesting. The more you know I guess!

Anyways, adding some interior "before" shots. Main notes in here; 1) Seats are worn to the bone, going to look at replacing them with thin 1 piece buckets (hoping to gain that extra 1" of leg room). 2) current gauge setup is super clunky, plus of the stock gauges the speedo is way high, fuel gauge is pretty much useless (might be the level sensor here? Shows full until you burn about 3-4 gallons then swings wildly about for about a gallon before resting on empty. Oh and stock temp gauge doesn't work but aftermarket one does; I'm guessing the prev owner swapped the wiring). 3) Stock shifter leaves a lot to be desired in both style and feel (actual trans engagement feels nice and notchy but the neutral engagement & precision is just off. Might just need bushings somewhere?). Would like to go lightly weighted here in the future (I'm guessing the shift lever is fairly standard?)

Also a couple challenge goals I want to try and work out while going through the build + minor updates
- Goal 1: (Post EFI) Get cruise control working (either custom dev. or included functionality in the EFI ECU)
- Goal 2a: Install an integrated dash & backup camera. Integrate video feedback into PI dash
- Goal 2b: Develop a basic forward collision/lane departure logic into the PI dash (lot of open source SW to start with, final integration is gonna be tough)

Some progress;
- Lowering blocks have been ordered; went with 4" blocks w/ a 3° pitch correction. Hopefully those work nicely, should be coming in this week or next
- Found a nice source of info for getting a PI dash put together. Basically a some assembly required "turn key" type setup to run it off Android Auto though in theory. (Note, the main reason I'm looking to not use a normal head unit is the desire to build in custom functionality; it won't be cheaper or faster, but it'll be way more fun)
- For seats I'm currently looking at a set of NRGs + low profile generic mounts. If there's an available dedicated seat bracket that's available though that would be amazing. Will look a bit more here, advise is happily welcomed!
- For EFI, I'm currently eyeing the single DCOE kit from turbogemeni (I'll toss the link below). It looks to be too notch, anyone have experience with them?

Turbo gemini EFI kit: http://www.turbogemini.com/Single%20DCOE%20kit.htm

Probable NRG seat: http://www.getnrg.com/index.php?route=p ... &order=ASC

Raspberry PI Android Auto (OpenAuto): https://youtu.be/Q9gHsR4foLM

Edit: Short note on the lowering kit, one thing I didn't think about was front tire clearance. Going down 3" in the front will certainly cause some clashing on my existing wheels so I may look to swap these out/have the fronts machined down (or do it myself) about 5mm or so. Anyone have info on ideal/known good wheel offsets at all?

Lowering blocks have been installed! To recap, went down 4" in the rear with a 3° pinion angle correction. Currently up front an on about a 3" drop, want to come down another 0.5" but need to change up the wheels and tires a but if I'm gonna make that clear (first picture is desired front height, rest are post adjustment, will add a couple more later showing lowpoints).

Few things that jumped out while working on it...
1) All the soft bushings are trashed (not surprising at all) so time to look into replacing them.
2) Shocks are pretty old as well, going to look for some replacements (any recommendations?)
3) My exhaust hangs very low (and is a bit sketchy overall). Going to look into those Pacesetter headers and run a high flow cat + resonator setup while tucking it up a bit higher.

Also got in the first decent road trip in her (about 160 mi round trip) and it's 110% time for new seats. Anyone know off-hand what brand/model seat bracket fits closest?

Edit: Bottom picture is before increasing height by ~0.5", it flipped the picture order on me

I used some 66 mustang bucket seats, just fabbed a couple of spacers...

Gotcha, Yea I'm thinking of going with an NRG seat (see below link) with a low-profile mounting bracket. I'm hoping that gains me an extra ~1" of leg room and brings the seat ~1-1.5" lower in the cab to give it a bit more of a car-like seating position. For the bracket I'll probably just grab & modify one of NRG's off the shelf ones, sounds like I may just need to measure & sketch out the pattern myself though & compare to known/available patterns. I'l hoping being 70' and Japanese it'll align pretty close to the old school Civic or MR2 patterns.

How far off was the Mustang bracket when you tossed it in?

NRG seat: https://www.enjukuracing.com/products/n ... -seat.html

Example bracket (would probably look for a cheaper one) for a Mustang (70's): http://www.getnrg.com/index.php?route=p ... ct_id=1441

Those seats look good for sure, didn't see any note about bracket fitment though? By spacers did you mean that you made some adapter plates for the bracket or just used the Mustang ones directly and adjusted the height?

Adding in another picture from today's adventures. One last question for the day as well; I had a bit of a scare out driving her today and for a short period of time lost most of my brake pressure (pressure returned at normal brake feel a few moments after). If I had to guess I'd say the brake master cylinder just seems to be on its way out and should be replaced. Any thoughts here?

I believe the 2 back studs and the ones by the door bolt through the floor as is, on the stock mustang brackets. The inner I used a piece of tubing as a spacer. Due to my health, I sold the truck, so I can't look at,..

Gotcha! I'll probably look to use that as a starting point then. Thank you!
