Hey guys, I am not very good with trucks/cars. I got a 1978 Chevy Luv as a graduation gift. My friends that gave it to me put in a 4.3L V6 Vortec engine from a 2001 S10 and the transmission from the S10. I have the driveshaft from the S10 in the bed because they said I'm going to need a beefier driveshaft. My thing is do I need to beef up the rear end also? If I do, what would be a good rear end to put in and would I have to modify it in any way? I know it probably sounds dumb but I have no clue on what to do and I am wanting to build it up myself and learn a thing or two along the way. Thanks for any input!

The driveshaft from the S10 should handle the power from the V6 just fine. After all, it came from the S10... Lol

The luv rear end should handle the v6 power ok. You'll have to get some fab work done to mate the S10 shaft to the luv rear. Any competent speed shop should be able to handle that no problem.

or go with an POSI S10 Rear end for a more beefy setup, but will need to re-lengthen the driveshaft and get 5 lug wheels, then redrill front brakes for 5 lug.

This will be more costly as well but just to give you an idea.
