Been kinda busy but do you still need the metal? I will be at the shop today and might be able to get it together.

Going Old Skool with a mod... Practical purpose though, the fuel door access is easier if the tailgate swings out...

Started on the gauge panel...

And also finished up all the metal work I know of, including the hinge mods on the tailgate. Prime time tomorrow... I should finish it up prep wise all but the fiberglass. I still need to finish out the underside of the hood and I got a little work to do to the rear fenders. I got to finish the 8.8 before I finish the fenders though, to be sure I don't need to add any extra to that part...

Primer looks like primer so no pics, but I got the sheet metal work done, probably one more blocking away to be done until paint. Got the hood corners at the end of the fenders by the grille down to the blocking stage (Up22 SUX). And I got the gauge pod done. I hope to get the hood finished this week so I can flip it and do the bottom side. (Rough as a cob). And I hope to fire it up. soon. I am also working on the rear, got to get it done and in so I can be sure the fenders work with it as is...

After 8 million or so hours of drilling, I finally finished the 8.8 with the short axle mod...

Just ended up doing a trade to a friend that needed the 8.8 I had exactly as specc'd out. I got all my money back out of mine, plus he traded me his uncut 8.8 rear with a new set of rotors and pads. (I kept my shiny ceramic painted calipers)... The new one is going in my Nissan...

I was going to order a 9 inch last week, but the vendor stopped answering e mails. If I don't hear from them tomorrow, I guess I will have to look elsewhere...

Only other thing I have gotten done due to trying to finish the much hated GTO I am doing is I have the trans controller mounted and partially wired, replaced/rewired the fuse box, and finished up the factory wiring under the hood ( I think, lol)... I hope to finish that stupid Goat this week and get on it, Need to wire up the MSD then I can fire it...

I ended up ordering a 9 inch rear that is 55.375 wide overall from the face of the brakes (I needed 5/8 more on each side that the stock dime rear that was in it). Housing with perches spaced for the s10 rear (which was in it when I got it from andy and which are the same as a LUV, weird) axles with bearings and studs and the chevy patten, and the rear disc brake kit with the metric calipers...

I scrounged around in the parts stash, and I got all the stuff for the third member but the gear ratio i want and a posi, trying to do some trading on some of the gears and spools I got for the stuff I want... I'm cheap..

Cheap.. resourceful.. what ever you wanna call it either way it will put a 9" in the truck
Sucks the 8.8 didn't pan out after putting that much time into it, what ratio are you going for?

Just so I know what was wrong with the modded 8.8 rear axle . Looked like the wheels fit ok . Also why the wider 9 inch ? Is this for a rim you already have ? looking good though .

The modded 8.8 rubs on the inside of the fenders on mine with a 5.5 backspacing, Even trimmed I think it would rub when it squats. The 8.8 was 56.875 wide from the face of the discs. I went with a 55.375 wide to pull it in 5/8's on each side. That should clear. The same rims on the stock s10 rim, the sidewall rubbed the frame, that rear was 54 from the face of the drums...

OK , guess the S-10 guys are running 6.5 or 7.5 back space with this deal . Mine Yellow truck is factory S-10 width and I have a small spacer and run 15 x 10 5.5 backspace . Just checking to make sure 55.375 would seem correct without the small spacers . This is a stepside ? fleet side it probably would have worked without the spacers .

Yes, mine is a stepside. I have the smaller fenders with the built in fiberglass step (I think the same as you had when you got the yellow truck). The s-10's run the 8 inch wheels with a 5.5 backspace and a 6.5 back space in the 10 wides...
