Put the bedside fenders on, a set of wheels I had, and a hood I picked up off Craigslist, which I hate...

Shortly thereafter I unloaded it and it sat there until a couple of weeks ago while I gathered parts...

Truck had a 700r4 automatic and a 305 small block, with the powerbyace swap kit installed. I swapped the 700r4 to a friend for a 4l80e and gavethe 305 to someone in need...

Since this is a new build thread, the pics are out of order, no biggie...

2 weeks ago I managed to remove the bed by myself, after going through 5 cans of wasp spray...

Image

Then I unloaded it in my shed and commenced the teardown...

Driver side floor needed some work...

Image

And to fit the humongous 4L80e trans, I scrounged a trans tunnel off a 78 chevy truck and trimmed it down somewhat...

Passenger side rocker was next...

Image

I got a truck from someone on here a few years ago, but I decided it was to much work, so I kept the cherry floor pans and rockers, and used those...

Here is the donor rocker after stripping it and using the spot cutter and a cut off wheel to get it ready. I applied some of the rust converter etching primer to it, the edges have the weld through primer...

Image

And here it is roughed in...

The water pump, pulleys, etc, came with the truck, except for the alternator bracket. I used the last 1971 chevrolet truck set up I had. They are rock solid and reliable...

The engine is a vortec 4 bolt block, with a streetable balanced rotating assembly, Comp Cams factory style roller with some extra oomph, short travel lifters, double roller timing chain, worked and flowed Bowtie Vortec heads, a Super Victor intake, and related items, and a George Rupert worked Quick Fuel Carb...

I bolted the headers up to the engine, and glad I did. The powerbyace headers are not designed for the vortec heads. They are straight plug heads, but the center exhaust ports on the driver side don't like spark plug boots...

I cut the center tubes and moved them. Passenger side is fine. I did move a tube there, but it was to clear the starter. I run a large size racing starter on all my street toys, and it would hit. You would not see it on probably any other starter. I did contact powerbyace about the fitment for the vortec heads, they should be good to go now.

I don't care for slip tube pipes, so I bought a set of VW flanges and gaskets, and welded them on both sides (I also do this to Hooker headers, not knocking the powerbyace stuff).

Picked up a Ford Explorer 8.8 rear, and an extra short axle. Going to cut the long tube down and see if it will work. The test fit wheels I put on, are on the frame rails, this should work nicely, if my math is right...

And I ordered a pair of hoods, on the left is one for my D21 Nissan v8 truck, and the one on the right is for this truck. UP22 is the only place that sells both in a bolt on configuration...

sure does
coming along nicely so far, at this point it has to be more about figuring out how you want to do it different from the last and less about the how to make it work, this one going to be raced as well or being built as a street toy?
