Starting my conversion, need advise on what to look for. I have removed the 1.8 & 4 spd from my 79 LUV. Installing a 2.3 & 5 spd and rear end from a 86 2wd Pup. From what I have read on this forum I am looking at a mostly bolt in installation. I see that the front will need modified for the new Pup radiator. My old LUV radiator is bad and was what led me to this project. I am aware of the tab modification on the rear end for the brake lines. I suppose it will be easiest to use the altenator from the LUV. Do I use the motor mounts from the 1.8 on the 2.3? What about the rear transmission mount? I'm guessing original LUV mounts for all but I want to have it right when I drop it down it there.
I don't get a lot of time to work on it but my plan is to get the engine bay cleaned and painted. Timing belt installed. Then put it in and see what happens. Thank you for any good help

Hope you got the slip yoke from the 2.3 donor truck. You got a great transmission, but the output shaft is larger/heavier than your original one, and won't fit the slip yoke on your LUV.

I did keep the driveshaft from the donor Pup. I decided to put the motor/trans combo in to see how it lined up.The Pup mounts were still on it so I left it. The motor mounts line up and will bolt up but the trans mount is off. I need the motor/trans back roughly two inches . It didn't look like the old LUV mounts would be a bolt up solution. If this gas set up doesn't bolt in I want to spend my time putting a diesel in it.
