This is my first Luv I bought last year as a basket case.Took out the four cyl and replaced with a 355 Stroker,Rack and Pinion Front,97 Cobra rear Independent Susp,Adj Springs like the Outlaw and Cup cars I work on at the shop.It has a 5 spd,Fiberglass full size rear fenders, homemade bed cover for the bed.Its been a blast to work on and it will have its first start this coming week. This is an Awesome site with great trucks and builds.Glad to be a part of it.

Nice truck. The rear fender looks like it could be mounted better then what it is.

In case you didn't know, the Mikado didn't show up until the 1974 year model.

The truck is a 72.It has Mikado on the dash so,I assumed it is a Mikado. The dash has never been replaced.

Some one put the mikado there. The only place Chevy put the Mikado badge in the LUV is the glove box door. I also notices the grill is from a later model truck, what is the VIN of this truck, I wonder if it is really a 72. The VIN is stamped on the cowl close to the front lip, depending on what year it is it could be on the left or right side.

Well I"m still learning about the Luv.I assumed my truck had the Mikado trim in 72' because of the badge on my dash and the dash looks original and it being a 72'.I'm learning every day on these trucks. Thanks for the correction.

I hate to be the one to tell you this but the cln1488 tells us it's a 1978 LUV. If you have that VIN number on your cowl and the door plate says it's a 72 then your cab was switched and the truck is illegal, unless the title says 72 with that VIN number. Here is the VIN breakdown from the factory manual.

The new vin makes it out to a 73 year model.

Check the VIN on the cowl to see if it is the same.

The cab VIN number that I am referring to is on the outside of the cab. Where the wipers are, look on the flat spot in front of them near the lip of the cowl and the firewall, it is actually part of the cowl and not the firewall. I noticed the cowl is off on your truck so it should be easy to find. My guess it is a 73 and for some reason was sold as a 72.

Why did you remove the firewall, my truck has the stock firewall, not even dented and my small block does not touch it, I even have my stock core support.
