the last guy I got it from had cut almost all of the firewall it out. why,I have no idea.there was no floors,or tranny tunnel in it.There is no rust on the truck, which I first thought was the reason the floors were gone.I have no Idea why the last guy did what he did?? :?

The VIN number is stamped on the cowl somewhere, if not it was ground down.

If you look at the picture I posted earlier that is not a LUV vin number. On some early models I found them to be on the opposite side. Not sure what other owners have but all 3 of last LUV's matched the numbers on the cowl to the VIN.

After talking to a few other LUV owners I stand corrected. The first Vin you posted was CLN1488281253, like the book says that is a 78 model year. Then you posted it was really CLN1428207021, that is a 73 model year. Then you posted the cab number is C58281253, as far as we can tell on the cab numbers the last 7 is supposed to match the last 7 of the frame and other VIN numbers. So the cab numbers match the first VIN you posted and some how you own a 78 LUV. someone swapped cabs for VIN numbers. All of the other owners I talked to say their cabs start with the c5 then followed the rest of their VINS.

I went through the engine compartment and found the cowl was welded back together for what reason I cant say.The DMV here in Ca, has it registered as a 73' so,I'll leave well enough alone.I just went to the DMV today and my reg matches in their system as well. I've already have a ton of work, money and time in this.I bought a 39' Ford coupe so I'm going to sell the this Luv and also pick up another one I found on sat. This time I will check it out thoroughly! Supposedly it is a 74' we'll see. Thanks very much for trying to decode this mystery truck for me. Paul.
