Engine rebuild step by step. I'll start out by saying that this rebuild took about 3 months, much of that time was spent sourcing hard to find parts. My original head was warped beyond repair, the second head from the donor engine had gouged and damaged camshaft journals, I managed to get a third and in good condition head from another LUV enthusiast who I follow on Instagram big shout out to @luv_project_ on Instagram for the head and the guidance. My original engine block was good but the crankshaft, connecting rods, bearings were all completely shot. I managed to source new connecting rods from Engine Rebuilders Supply (ERS) based in Troutdale, OR. The third head may have been in good shape but the camshaft needed a grind so I Sent it off in the mail to DeltaCam based in Tacoma, WA to get grinded. I sourced new main/connecting rod bearings, 20 over pistons/rings, intake/exhaust valves on eBay, another source for them is Clegg engine but they're a bit more expensive. I sourced new water pump, new engine gasket kit, new oil pump, and new timing component kit on rockauto.com.

All of my machine shop work was done by Eastco machine based in Gresham, OR they did a fantastic job and I appreciate they're good communication and quality of work. In total I had them do the following:

I know this thread is somewhat out of order but my technologically impaired a** can't figure it out... Please forgive the sloppiness.

Yep, it's been up and running for about a month now. runs strong and smooth. I got a new Weber on its way cause the one I have on it has worn out components and the throttle plate gets stuck when returning to idle, I have tovfeatger and blip the gas pedal to get it back to idle. Also the idle mixture screw does absolutely nothing so I'm opting for a new carb rather than a rebuild. Im now working on a front end rebuild. Installed an idler arm assembly out of an 85' trooper, new upper/lower ball joints, new inner/putter tie-rods, new center-link and boots for my cv axles.

I had a used Weber for a while and it was always finicky. Realized it was just plain worn out got a new one and it works great. So yeah, I had the same experience.
