I had a used 74 and then two 1975's in 1976 when the dealer told me they had fixed the head gasket for the last time, and they would give me a trade in deal on a new full sized truck. I took the deal and about six months later, I found a guy who had a shop with a 74 Luv with a 69 350/powerglide in it. I sold my full size truck and bought the Luv. Man that thing was fun. I had another 79 with 9" Ford ladder bars a built Lt1/4l60e and almost had it going when Hurricane Ike buried it in saltwater. Being retired the money comes slowly, but a new 1980 Luv is outside, I've got a 4l60e to rebuild, a Blazer 3:42 posi, and a 5.3 in the machine shop. And so it goes.

That sucks man, sorry to hear! Ordered a pretty polished single groove water pump pulley today. Should be here sometime soon. Gonna finish the radiator mounts and possibly mount my b&m ratchet shifter. Couple questions, my fuel sending unit doesn't work so the qauge always reads empty, Will the gauge work with a fuel cell? And for those of you who went with an aftermarket shifter what did you do with your reverse lights? Wire in a switch? Not even bother?

Check your fuses for the gas gauge. Could be the gauge, or the sending unit in the tank. Same thing with a fuel cell, you'll have to install a sending unit in the fuel cell to get a gas gauge.

Yep a bit of bad luck there, :( don't let it stop your motivation ..... I know exactly how you feel. ..Can you see my yellow submarine (nickname) by the arrow. a few yrs back during heavy rains, the creek overflowed & these trucks were in the low area.....completely stripped it down once i got it out to let it dry for dayz ...but looking on the bright side i have touched EVERY part to check it all out.

Hey you've got the yellow submarine pretty good now. I need to do that to mine, but I'm going to get it running first.

Its still pretty bare bones it was drivable for about 7000 mile this engine is NOS I saved 20yrs. As you might have seen the trans went out, looking back at dates Its been since July 2012 ...How time flies.... The dash is still bare metal but i actually have clean one to go on =) . I just wasn't feeling it to load up all these stored parts, until i found another trans, was starting to think part it out, but i think i may have found one ... THANKS to a link someone posted on THIS SITE :D ...

I've got some surface rust spot which i'm going to make a paste out of some citric acid (they use this for drying fruit and its safe) SINCE I can't soak the cab ...plus w/ gas closing in on 4 a gal i want my LUV back on the road...good luck w/ yours...Peace

That old yellow stepside looks good. Keep up the good work. Mine is coming along, just not as fast as I wanted. That probably applies to everybody.

Did a little bit of work today. Got the broken water neck stud out. Bought a helicoil kit after it snapped but I ended up welding a nut to it and it came right out haha. AlsoSwapped back to the stock bench seat today. I just can't get myself to put in buckets. The bench seat looks much better and is pretty comfortable, I also might uses the stock shifter instead of the b&m. I've got factory mikado seats for sale if anyone wants them. Pm me

I have to admit the bench seat does look better in the truck, which is why I intend to keep mine, but I've got some leather seats out of a Saab that are pretty nice, and am going to try them. The Mikado seats are tempting, but shipping would be too much. Somebody will want them.

I have shipped airplane seats many times. I get two big packing boxes from Home Depot. Put I seat in the box, put the second seat in upside down and pull the second box over the top and tape it together. I think the last couple I shipped from California to the Orlando area was $55.

If I could get them here reasonably, I wouldn't mind having them...

I got a stock shifter from HotRod80. If it's loose, I can tighten it up, and I'm sure it will shift just fine. I like the Mikado seats. Maybe we can work something out. I'll send you a p.m.

Comparing the pictures of the seats and the parts manual I am not sure they are factory bucket seats.

im not sure if they are factory either, but they came in the Mikado parts truck I bought, and they match the interior.

stock shifter linkage was to short, and I didn't have the arm shifter thingy that bolts to the tranny. so the b&m it is. made a stand deal out of some 1/8" plate for it, and im gonna do something storage wise with it also. made a fuel pump block off plate today too, just need to drill some holes for it
