Hey guys, I have started my first project/build and chose to do a 1979 Chevy Luv. My love of the Luv started back in 1980 when I was 17, I got a 1977 Chevy Luv. I replaced the bench seat with bucket seats, molded fender flairs, and filled in the “Chevrolet” on the tailgate. I sold my first Luv in 1982, days before I left for basic training (Army). I’ve always wanted another one, but my career, family, and and income wouldn’t allow. Now that I’m older and have a few pennies to rub together, I’ve decided to start my project. I found the 1979 Luv in North Carolina last year. I purchased it from a dealer who had recently got it at auction from the original owner (original receipt was with the truck). I have been a member of this forum for over a year and have been reading and learning from the members here. I have completed most of the tear down of my truck as you can see from the pictures below. I have ordered an independent front system (IFS) and Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) from Scott’s Hot Rod in California (due to me at the end of December). Once I get it and have it mounted, I will send the frame and body off for blasting. When I get them back, the fun of putting it back together will begin. My plan is to put a small block V-8 in it. I will try to keep the thread going as I progress.

Everything apart and ready for blasting and paint. All of that will happen once the IFS and IRS are tested.

Spent the afternoon washing parts...30 years of dirt and grime. I would like it to look close to new when I'm all done. The IFS and IRS should be done in the next few weeks. Once they arrive, it is a mock up, then off to blasting. Fender flares, front spoiler, and visor should arrive sometime next week (fingers crossed), thanks Chevroluv (Mark).

The IFS and IRS has been completed by Scott's Hot Rods and should arrive on Tuesday. Getting excited to start next steps.

Hey - I was wondering how the front and rear end swap was going. Curious about the fittiment of the Scott's parts. Any updates? Thanks!

The frame is at the shop and the IFS and IRS are ready to be installed. I had taken everything apart and didn't measure where the center of the wheel would be, so I need someone to give me the measurement from the front of the frame to the center of the wheel. Hoping someone will answer the mail soon so the welding can begin.

The IFS has been installed and the rear is the next on the list. This project is going slow, but that is fine with me, just one step at a time.

Went to the meat market today (Merchant Tires) and got some meat to put under the rear of the Luv. These should fit nice and snug.
