Hey guys i have Luv'd this forum for years now im part of it :D Here is my first Luv i bought it 1 week ago.Its a 1980 4x4 mikado. Ill just give you a quick background im a mechanic with 15 years experience in restoring and hot roding the reason Ive always wanted a luv was growing up my father had a yellow one with a 427 BB chevy now i can build one with my own spin on it.

i tore the truck down today by my self i got to say i am so pleased at how easy and fun it is to work on one of these, it made me so happy :)

The plan so far is to take out the 1.8 ( so if anybody needs a 1.8 or 4 speed with 3,900 miles on it let me know), Install a 96 lt1 i have laying around, I plan to twin turbo the lt1, manual trans bucket seats from a 78 Nissan Z, Console, remove the 4 wheel drive, lower the front raise the rear 2 inches, flowmaster exhaust, black carpet and exterior possibly hugger orange with stripes white or black and a hood scoop.

The truck looked way worse then it really was not to much sheet metal to replace.

This bumper might be up for grabs too if anyone needs it. And if anyone has an 80 grille by it self or a 70's grille with the headlights and bezels to change it over let me know thank you

I cheated i own a tow truck lol

Nice find!
Looks like you are going to do a thorough going over on the entire truck. Take your time and enjoy it. And make sure that you take close-up detailed pictures of cables, brake lines, wiring, etc. - you will be glad that you did.

I went back and looked, yep a dashcap. Jumped the gun a wee bit. good looking truck, your cab floor looks like mine does. I didn't have a towtruck, I had a 105 lb wife help lift the cab off. Ozark hillbilly women can lift twice their wieght.

A thought occurred to me while reading this thread.
Why is it that some of us can see the potential and the fun of putting a 350/350 into a Luv and others can't?
Taking an old truck that nobody wants and making it into a cool ride is something not many people can do.
You have to be a car guy car guy to understand.
Keep up the good work.
By the way I watched Aaron on Fast and Loud slam an old Ford truck just by putting the leaf springs on the bottom of the axle instead of their normal resting place on the top. The truck did have straight axles in front and back.
