Havent had alot of time for this truck lately but got a few things done . My Vortec block had no provisions for a fuel pump at all . No fuel pump rod hole or pump mount holes at all . I drilled and tapped the block for the fuel pump block off plate . The A/C bracket im going to use mounts to the fuel pump boss and the 2 holes in the front of the motor . Also the motor mounts will be the polyurethanes off my Yellow truck . Getting closer to the install .

Got a bit farther today . The Chevy Luv/Izusu rear axle is basically a Japanese copy of a Ford nine inch chunked in the oven and shrunk . I pulled the old assembly out and set the new axle on the moroso spring perches , with 1/2 " u-bolts and the Afco lower shock mounts that came on the Yellow truck . The emergency brake cables from the Luv snap right in the big Ford backing plates and the cables slide right in the cam arms for the e-brake of the drum brakes . Ill get some pics of the brakes coming up , but a photo update . 28 x10.5 x 15 slicks

Thanks it has been alot of work .

Dash cap and radiator came in today along with the carpet and door panel material . The material is a 70's/80's mopar pattern that caught my eye 95% of people will never know it is not factory , the other 5% wont care .

Here are the original door panels . The kick panels will also be upolstered to match .

Waiting on the A/C and alternator brackets to come in . Still need a fan , mufflers , sump for factory tank , Have been working 7 days a week and not had time for this , plus santa claus is coming and my girls are back in town for a while .

I have been researching how to keep the A/C on the truck and this is what i came up with . Thes two are made by Alan Grove . Gonna have to do some measuring to order the correct one , but this is the ideal . Mounting the compressor where the fuel pump would be . Which is where it is located now . No hose changes except for up from at the condensor . I'll have to move it to make room for the larger aluminum radiator .

Be aware of the radiator hose. I had issues trying to mount a mini alternator there and it isn't as long as the compressor....

Will the frame rails allow the compressor to be mounted there?

This is the kind of input i was looking for . the factory , or dealer , air with the 4 cyl is mounted in this area . I dont have the motor in yet . Thinking the bottom picture is the one i will have to use because of the front crossmember . Only other option is to move it up in the battery spot and use a high mount for low hood clearence . This is my other option , but i really didnt want to move the battery . The alt belt would be closest to the balancer and the A/C belt would be toward the radiator . The A/C belt could go around the water pump pulley or straight to the compressor . Either way the fan will have to be spaced forward enough so the blades clear tha A/C belt.

Here is the alt bracket that i bought . Same one on the blue and Yellow truck .

Don't think it will work, the bottom one, you won't have the room outboard of the motor before you hit the frame rail. The top one might come closer, but then you run into the rad hose like I mentioned earlier, IMO. I have an alt on the bottom opposite the drawing, but had to fab the mounts to work due to lack of space, I have the electric water pump drive top right, and the vacuum pump top left. I tried to mount those in that spot you are looking at but couldn't make it work. I ended up only having room there, (in your chosen spot) for my crank trigger eye. Sorry to be such a buzzkill...

Neither of the low mounts will work . The Idle steering arm is in the way of the higher one . I measured off the yellow truck . Also the lower radiator hose coming from the radiator would be up against the clutch of the compressor . The belt was already goning to be close to the hose .

Thanks , picking it up monday Should be ready to set the motor in . Looks like i will be using the A/C brcket that will mount the compressor over the battary tray . Plans are to move the battary to the passengerside in front of the rear tire outside the frame rail . Going to mount a disconnect switch at the battary and build linkage to the rear .
