Hello all. first post, but have been lurking here for several years. I intended to build a full size chevy truck for hunting/fishing ect, but when I saw this
76 LUV for sale I couldnt help myself. The early photos of the build were lost in a harddrive failure, but I have a few left of later on. At one time this
truck had a really nice metalflake green paint job. The previous owner was running a TBI 350 with a 700-R-4 trans so it already had V-8 stands welded
in. He also cut the core support out and a hole in the hood, but it had nice wheels and the body was pretty straight so I gave $700 for it. The reason we
call her Black Betty is because of the nearly gallon of industrial black epoxy I put underneath it to cover surface rust. Heres a pic from last week ImageImageImage

Come on guys, It took me 3 years to build the motor and trans and get it all installed and running. At least someone could say it sucks or something.

It's a lot of fun! The motor is pretty mild with only a 306 Dur/470 lift/108 LSA cam, "Z-28" springs, Speed Pro flat tops and a 2400 stall converter/350 turbo trans. It sounds real nice
at idle. You have to feather the throttle in low and it will still spin the tires half way through 2nd. I'm very surprised at how well this LUV hooks up, it acts like it might try to pull the
front end with slicks on it, But I could kiss the stock rear U-joint/rearend goodbye pretty quick.

Nice build. I bet it will get up and go with those stock gears.

I edited your first post so the rest of your pics would show up.

Looks like it should be a runner!
You're still running the stock rear?
I think the stock rear carries 456 gears.

I think it's 4.11 or 4.56 from what I've read on here, it turns 2000 rpm @ 40mph so it's pretty darn low. Thanks for fixing my pics drummerforhire.
