Working 3 jobs makes it hard to get some free time, but after a few days the headers are built.

Here are some updates.

Here are the headers in the truck. you can see the before and after at how much the pipe drew when it was welded.

Here is the 20 gallon fuel cell for street cruising.

Here is the rear coil overs mocked then mounted.

And the 4L80 required a little trimming. (it would have fit with the stock floor pan and a BFH around the bell housing but I already had a aftermarket tunnel so I cut it out)

Well, I am stuck offshore but looks like Christmas at the house. I have most everything to finish the truck either on the way or at the house. Hope to have it most of the way done when I get home.

The tail gate showed up today and was installed for me while I am gone.

mayham, your right around the corner from me.

I didn't get a whole lot of time to work in the shop this time home but was able to go out there for a day. I painted the tailgate to match the truck (have not done any body work yet just wanted it to match)

Image

I sunk the fuel cell into the bed to make it a cleaner install.

And the Hood showed up. 4 3/4 cowl from UP22.com

I need to start assembling the truck, I had taken off work a week to do it but got tied up at the house watching my dog after an emergency room visit so I didn't get a chance to get to the shop after that.

I was told they are Isuzu mighty max rims but I have no idea. They are 14s. I will be removing them when I install the Aerospace front since they are a 5 lug rotor.

Ok...what do you guys do for the venting when you block the vents with speakers? Dump them onto the floor? I have a 75 I am working on for a daily driver and I want to add more speakers...I think that the vents would be a great location...but no A/C so I still need the vents.

I finally got a chance to work on the truck a little, between work and the other two race cars this one has just been sitting. I been working on the brakes and ran into a problem yesterday when trying to put a disc conversion onto the drum 9in rear. Everything bolted up great and was cruising right along until I tried to put the rotors on. The rotors didn't fit over the axle flange. I had to take the axles to a machine shop and have them machined some to fit inside the rotor. I also rolled the fenders in the rear to clear the 275 drag radial and after I put the rotors on it will move the wheel out some so I either have to buy a different offset rim or shorten the rear some. I am trying to keep the rear as wide as possible so the truck will be stable at high speeds. Well since the rear was a disaster, I started on the front and was off to a good start. Everything bolted up great and seemed to be fitting good. The front kit is a Aerospace street rotor kit and it was looking all good until I put the fender on and noticed it widened my track width so now I need to get a different offset front wheel also. :o\

Old Brakes (they have been sitting a while, lol)

And then I put the fender on...

Blazonic, you did your own cage didnt you? If so what tubing bender do you use, Im looking at buying one and just doing research on them before commiting to one. Your cage looks great, love the cage coming out of the cab below the top of the bed, im going to copy that if you dont mind. Thanks.

I know its been a while since I did any updates on the truck but I thought yall would like some more Luv Porn.

(sorry most of my pictures from photobucket don't work anymore. I made a album for the luv and when I moved them it screwed up all the links and I can't edit my posts.)

After I got the truck running I cruised it on the street some to work out the bugs then took it to the track. First pass I made a easy launch and short shifted, ended up running a 10.8@124 on motor trying to get a feel for the truck at speed. Next pass I stalled the converter up a little and brought the RPMs up in the shift to about 6500 then about 900ft I felt a shake and shut the motor off. Ended up breaking the #6 rod but ran a 10.6 breaking at 900ft and never got to spray it. :( After that the truck sat for a couple months until we threw a cheap little motor 355 together and took it to the track for a truck race. Truck ran 11.8s on motor but then we turned on a 100shot and the truck went 10.2@134 (I guess the tight converter liked the nitrous) Well after the truck race the motor was pulled out and the truck sat while I gathered parts for it with spare money (with two other drag cars it took a while)

Image
Image

Here is the broke rod.

Image

Here are some updates on the truck.

I took the motor with the broke rod and had the compression knocked out so I can build a turbo system (it was 13.5:1 so to run it on the street was expensive in fuel) I also changed just about everything else with the motor only re-using the block and crank. I then started ordering everything to make the truck turboed. Turbo, Holley EFI, A/W intercooler with Ice Tank, Injectors ETC.

Things are starting to shape up and the truck is getting close to running again and should be a nasty little street ride when it is finished.

Here is the motor dropped in trying to get ideas for turbo mounting.

Image

This should give you a better idea of the Turbo size.

Parts rolling in

Dropping it off for the turbo kit.

Here is the turbo kit being fabbed up by a friend of mine. He is doing awesome work packing it into such a tight engine compartment.

Needless to say I am a little excited to drive this thing again.
