Haven't done very much on the truck since the last post, still working on it though, just very slowly.

Modifying the strut housing to fit the coilovers.

Going to cut a recess to help with the clearance at the bottom of the strut housing, the reason I'm doing this is to keep the 10 degree slope of the original suspension.

got my rack and pinion and worked on the coilover mounting mockup.

Image

Made a recess in the old housing to clear the coils and started the cardboard mockup of the top cap. Where the black dots are there will be plug welds for the cap reinforcement strap

Going to use a hole saw and cut a hole for a socket to go through.

Going to need to change the springs to an 8in instead of the 10in, so the ride height will be right, sitting at 8-1/2in ground clearance needs to be at 6-1/2in . Also need to change to a lower spring rate, #350 is what have in now, probably going to go with a #250, any suggestion?

got the springs today, decided to through some things together and start mocking up the rack and pinion, and yet another issue has arisen. going to have to sleep on this one. 1 step forward 2 steps back.

Made some progress this weekend.

Someone had asked about how I bolt the coil over up on the top mount and this picture is in reference to that.

The rest are recent work.

Tacked the rack and pinion in, set the motor in, and set the cab on.
The reason for this was to see where the suspension was going to sit with the weight of these items.
Everything clears. The only thing I may need to address is the tire to fender clearance during compression. That is something I'll look into at a later date.

Going to pull everything back off and finish welding the rack and pinion in the next couple of days.

Thank you. as for the shifter cart handling, that's kind of what I'm going for atm. Although that was not the intention when I started, but after getting the motor and doing some measuring, it was clear some things were going to have to be changed. I may at some point do a corvette independent rear suspension just to add to the shiftercart feel. :)
