Well finally got my shop built, so pulled the LUV in and started the project that has been sitting in the driveway/yard for over 3 years! The original plan was to build a hot rod, well living in alaska and with shipping prices on parts, Ive decided to build it into a 4x4...

Heres the plan for now if I can find the donor chassis:

1976 Luv body , 97 -2006 Jeep wrangler frame with 4.0L, either Ford 9" rear Or dana 44, HP Dana 44 front, full cage, and the luv fenders with tube fender flares ( I'm gonna try to keep the luv body lines, for the most part) If I cant find a reasonbly priced wrecked Wrangler, then Im gonna use the luv frame with a chevy 350, TH400, 205 t-case same axles

Heres some pics of the dissasembly:

The plan is to make it street legal, Im gonna keep the stance as low as possable, but still have plenty of ground clearance.

You know from a guy that has done a frame swap. I wouldnt do it again. Theres a lot of work to it! Mines on a 86 ranger frame and it has been non stop fabing. It was fun, way fun to build it! but I wish i just straight axled it and 4.3 or 350'd it. The wiring for that 4.0l is gona be somthing. I just took all the ranger wiring even the steering wheel.

I made a flatbed and striped it down completly and its about to be painted. I didnt have a clue at how much work it was gona be. Just my .02 cents anyway. From a guy that has really done it. (Im not downing your build or fab skills or want!)

Nothing wrong with it at all, I havn't found one rust hole on the chassis or body for that matter, all suface rust.. I know the LUV frame is strong, the reason for the TJ (wrangler chassis) is because I would really like to run the coil spring suspension and the jeep drivetrain ( minus the jeep axles) If I dont find a doner jeep soon, Im just gonna build off the Luv frame

Theres all kinds of stuff for Coils. Coils are the easiest to do in my opion anyway. Theres a build thread on here called "Smokeys V8 4x4" He did coils and hes got a good build thread. Probley What your looking at doing. Hope this helps.
