hey guys, i have an idea, but i want to feel out the possibility of it's success.

i have always been fond of the dash units from the older c-10 pickup trucks. specifically the 62'
this is a pic of my old '62

what i would like to accomplish is a custom dash/instrument cluster where the gauges are in the center between the two buckets, and the areas on either side of the "gauge pod" would be storage/cupholders etc. the heater and radio would be under the gauges.

my concern would be the toebox/column support area on the driver's side.

i know this concept is a little weird, but i want to do this since i don't have any other projects going on at the time.

Haha, that would be awesome! How are you planning on constructing it? Fiberglass? Vinyl? Metal? I don't know much about the stock dash contruction, but would you have to cut out the metal where the radio mount is? Or maybe set it on top of the radio mount with the gauges turned a bit towards the driver or something? Like the Saturn Ions? lol. You might want to cut out the whole stock dash and build a new metal frame like Wicked Mayhems if ur gonna do something like that. Idk, just throwing around ideas. :ebiggrin

well, i want to cut out the stock dash completely, and go with a dash from a 62 to use as a base to start with.

i have a gauge cluster arrangement idea

(Tach) ( Speed) (Fuel)
(temp) (o. pressure) (volts)
(man. Pressure) (oil temp) (undecided)

it will be a 3 X 3 pod arrangement. Im thinking about going with an aviation style theme. i figure since i use my truck everyday, i want to KNOW what's going on with my engine.

Use something like the drop steering columns that they use on hot rods.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

I just have a question what is the length of a factory chevy luv dash? I kinda have the same idea, but using a different dash then a 1966 Chevy C10 truck dash or a chevy chevelle dash.
