You can get an adaptor for get a newer syle transfer case or just get an 90s case and keep your 4x4? Im not sure but I know you can find the info online, so you can keep your stock 4x4 for right now and when your ready to do your straight axle bluild you just throw toy axles in! haha :D Im pretty sure there passager side diff. Just an Idea anyway haha. Rather than getting a 2wd output shaved and doin that.(unless you were just gona run the transfer case) Your gona have to get drive lines made. just food for thought!  PICS!!!

im keeping the transfer case on it. its driver side drop so im going to need to find either a jeep axle or ... not sure what else i will do some looking. i will run it without a front driveline and just have it as a half assed rwd till i get the front drive sorted out. drivelines will be around $70 a piece to modify so thats not too bad...
right now im trying to sell the tbi and intake, stock dizzy and a/c compressor to pay for the carbed intake and hei distributor.. after that it will be ready to go in

since the t-case with it (out of a 91 s10 blazer) is driver side drop and needs vacuum lines to the front diff to work correctly i either need to find the front end out of a blazer or switch t-cases to an np203-208 and a yota axle since the front diff cant handle the torque the 4.3 puts out... this should be fun

and i am going to stay @ or under a 33" tire... 32-33 would go pretty well with the 4.3 with a few mods and some yota axles. its my daily so i cant go too extreme
plenty of trails around here it could handle with some 33's even 31's

Haha I gotcha! 8) Im gona stick with the 31's for now, maybe do a coil spacer and put 32's or 33's under it one day. or if another luv ever comes up for sale around here again  steel the fenders and cut them out and do some fender flares. 8) What are the specs for that 4.3? how long?

length of the engine itself? i would say probably 4-4.5" shorter than a chevy 350 since its a cylinder shorter but same basic block.. same bore and stroke as the 350 4"x 3.48"

i like how Gm did this they did the same with the buick 231 3.8 v6. gas prices went up so they hacked a pair of cylinders out of a v8 mold and made it a sixer, simple quick and they don't even need new internals
got my stand and the next 4 days off of work so im going to be doing a bit of disassembly on the engine so i will have some pics tomorrow for sure  and probably a few questions

im going to be taking off the oil pan valve covers etc to check how it is inside and if it needs anything i will replace it. if not (only 133K so it should be fine) i will run it as is while i get the rest of it going like the exhaust, and getting everything dialed in with the carb and timing.

also an update with the pics...
i got it up on the stand and drained the oil... black as night and some nasty sludge  go figure. so it looks like im going to be tearing into the engine and going through all the bearings with some plastigauge and getting a re-ring/gasket kit for it.
going to take my time get it all assembled and ready to go... been thinking about using my digital scale and a dremel to weight match the pistons and rods while its all apart since this is known to be a shaky motor and have the crank balanced at the shop while im at it.. sure it wont make a huge difference but every little bit of smoothness helps in a truck this light

its awaiting a standard rebuild while i convert it to the carb setup and find myself a manual shift kit for the 700r4.. basic engine swap prep for now

yep chrome, flames and spoilers should always be the top of your mod list lmao and everyone knows each sticker adds 5hp
it should fit in there pretty good. going to take hte measurements for clearance tomorrow and see how much will need to be done, mount locations etc
going to need a decent aluminum rad and a tranny cooler somewhere in the process too.. along with a ratchet shifter and misc odds and edds to make it more drivable

my sisters cavalier looked worse then that when we pulled the head/valvetrain/oil pan off ... but she hadn't changed the oil in over 20K miles.

Scraped and pressure washed what we could and then ran half a liter of kerocene with 100 mile oil changes till it cleared up what was left in the block...

ouch 8O 20k with no oil change im amazed it was even running at that point
pulling the heads tonight didnt get to yesterday. praying that the bores are in at least decent condition... not holding out hope for the bearings tho :esad

going to need a flexplate. noticed mine is warped a bit.. not real bad but im not going to re-use it

im going to hit the heads and intake with a solvent washer full of diesel and see how they come out. the block will probably get sprayed with some as well, and get a good pressure wash afterward.

once i check my tolerances and make sure i don't need any machine work done i will grab a re ring kit with bearings and gaskets, new oil pump and water pump and should be about ready to drop it in once i get myself a B&M shifter for the 700r4.
so i need to figure out the auto trans as well.. am i going to need to hunt down a throttle cable for the trans or can i run it without?

im thinking about just ponying up the cash to buy the edelbrock 4barrel aluminum intake for it and a set of used 96+ vortec heads to up the flow by a lot.. with the intake, vortec heads, headers, cam etc a lot of people are seeing north of 300hp and up to 400. i would be content with 250-300. i dont think the luv needs anything more as a daily driver
