That is sort of the "anti Graffiti" look where I am. I see it in public restrooms a lot that are prone to tagging.

I made a cross bar out of and old tube grill for the rear end. I don't remember why they used to put them on mini trucks in the 80's but for me it was more about recycling a $10 grille.

They were there so we had a place to install the clearance lights.

Actually the stock would have been of more solid material and it would have been an attempt at a sway bar .

I had clearance lights on my 74 Mazda on the bottom of traction bars but I never got to the cross bar.

I haven't done much to the 72 this year but did pick up another L88 hood a couple months ago. It fit the stock hinges but had to pin the rear. Luckily I had a piece of scrap diamond plate the worked great for some brackets. The hood fits pretty good and the gaps aren't bad. I don't know the manufacturer but its different than the one I had a fre years ago. That one did not have the ridge on top of the scoop.

I got a few things done on the 72 over the last 2 weekends. First I had the exhaust re-routed to clear the 9 inch finally. I also needed some room at the right shock so I could add air shocks. I got the air shocks on yesterday and took the rear bumper off again too. I am a little over 3" higher in the rear and the ride is way better now. I had about 2" of travel since putting the 9 inch in and the old exhaust pipes were banging on the housing. Now I can drive this truck anywhere.

My radiator started leaking from the bottom tank last week. I was told by the prior owner my radiator was a stock Luv made into a 4 row but the radiator guy said the lower tank was a GM cross flow. I got it fixed and it came back like new for $125. While cleaning up my flex fan I found a cracked blade about 50% through so I picked up a new fan too. While it was apart I had to clean and paint a little as long as I was in there. 8)

I came across your thread and saw the picures of my old L-88 hood on your truck. Looks great! You did a great installation job. I forgot how nice it makes the Luv look. Also would like to thank you again for those parking light lenses, it is nice to have a complete looking front end on my Luv after so many years.

Thanks, I love the hood, way less people ask me if it has a small block now. I really like the L88 style hoods. This is my second one but this one fits much better. I was surprised how good the gaps are. I'm glad the lenses worked out, as much as I get rid of parts I seem to wind up with more.

I did a couple test runs to check for leaks before I put it all together. The crap new hose clamps failed before I even started it. I put the old stainless ones back on. I don't know what cheesy metal the new ones were but they are going back to Oreallys. I would like to find another core support to patch into mine down the road too.

I scored a Snug Top shell made for a Luv today. It was on a 4x4 that has been on CL for months so I asked and he sold just the shell. It fits like a glove. 8)

Did the shell come off a 74 with a lift kit?

I made these aluminum dash covers when I first got my truck but took them out to re-make them. 5 years later I decided to just use them but did a brushed aluminum finish this time.

The original look was occasionally blinding in the sun

Been a while since I updated anything here. I am down to one truck and the trailer again so the focus is on the 72 now. I found some old school side mirrors last week and they got here yesterday. They are just like the ones I had in the late 70's and I love them. I know they aren't everyone's first choice for Luv mirrors but with a camper they are perfect. I mocked them up for a few minutes but will take my time and mount them right later. I am going to cut down the brackets to tighten them up a bit. The lower bracket screws right into the stock mirror hole so only the top to work out. I have been looking for a set of these mirrors for years and for a re-pop they are nice.

This was a great weekend for my Luv. I finally had the 350 I bought 6 years ago gone through and put back together. It was supposed to have been rebuilt but I had found a few issues that had to be dealt with. I got lucky and found an old drag racer and machinist who made it right. Once I got the motor unloaded and put back on the stand I went to pick up a rebuilt Turbo 350 to replace the one I have now. My current trans works fine but I only want to do this swap one time. I found a retired trans mechanic who rebuilds them in his garage now as a hobby. I am feeling really good about both pieces. I just need to get it ready to swap them out. 8)
