Me and a friend did my Z with the engine in, and it only took about 2 hours. I made my cut about. 8 inches in front of the firewall. You will wanna mark it and then cut the marks in with a grinder. Make sure to make your cut straight up and down or it will line up funny. I did mine 1.5 inches. I didn't Z the front of the frame. I cut out the crossmember on the radiator support that is right under the radiator, and the I sectioned the 2 mounts 1.5 inches. You will have to cut the radiator support first or thee frame will not line up. I layed my truck out on 4x4's and used a floor jack to raise the front clip. And then weld it all together.

I'm not very knowledgable in the fabrication area. I have a 1979 that I cranked out the torsion bars to lower it down a bit. It looks like the wheels will hit the fenders if I go any lower. How did you get your wheels to tuck in the fenders?

Its probably the offset of the wheel your running. The rear of the truck is more of a rwd offset and the front to tuck u need more of a 0 offset. I'm running steel wheeld off of a hardbody. Any steel 6 lug for a smaller truck will work. Now I have my own issue I need some help with the steering column. What size is it so I can put a u joint on it to go into the steering box?

B.Luv, thats how my truck was when i cranked the bars. it is probably the shims on the UCA. pull them out and the wheel should camber in enough to clear. but will suck for driving.

Yea there just stock steel wheels but I bought early 70's chevy hubcaps for them once its ready. And to answer that other question you have to Z the frame because of the front crossmember under the engine sits lower than the frame. If you do not z the frame it will not lay flat on the ground.
