After 5 years I finally decided to tear down the luv and paint it. Drove it for over 2 years in primer and got tired of people asking me when I was going to paint my truck. So, two months ago I finished my shop (that was an adventure in and of itself), drove the Luv in and started tearing it down. Stripped it to bear metal, installed cadillac coup deville rear tail lights, made a new headliner, dash and man, I am worn out. It's almost done and I will post some pics tonight. I just wanted to get the thread going here - people think I crazy for being so excited about a "luv truck" - I knew ya 'all would understand. I painted it 2009 GM Tangerine Orange with orange and gold metal flake ghost flames on front and beind rear wheels. All that's really left is making the door panels, putting in the carpet and gluing the "fake" leather on the dash which I hope to have done by this weekend.

File comment: Front is the same orange and gold flake as the flames. Cut bumper to give radiator more air and welded in "grate."

File comment: Lots of fab and welding but caddy lights were worth it. Luv lights were shot.

more pics. Holes above rear flame are for the Mikado emblems. I'm going to clear coat them with some gold metal flake before I put them on.

File comment: This is kinda the true orange of the truck - camera keeps making it a "peach" color. Hopefully when it gets outta the shop, pics will turn out orange. These are the flames behind pass'r tire. All are orange and small amount of gold flake on top of the base orange paint
