Here are a few pics of my dash under re-construction. I used a 1/2" thick high density foam that is still pliable. After making a template I cut the 'filler' out of this foam and used contact cement to bond it down. You will see that I kept the front edge of the original dash as I like the shape. The next step is to cover all of this with some 1/16" thick foam used by upholsters to avoid having any seams show through the naugahide or vinyl. I think I have naugahide as it has a white cloth backing. The center section where the defroster and speaker went is filled in with a piece of wood that I shaped to the contour of that area. The vent holes are already cut out in the wood and I will figure something out to trim them out when the time comes. As of today, the truck has been sitting in the sun, 90 plus degrees, and windows up, since Sunday with no bubbles or delaminations yet. Plan to let it stay like this all week since I am out of town until Saturday. Stay tuned !!!
