I am in the process of building a aluminum tonneau cover for my drag truck. I friend of mine is going to help me cut the aluminum. Here are a few pictures of the framing. Will add more when I get the cover on.

I am looking forward to getting it on there. Have been thinking about doing it for the last couple years, finally said screw it and doing it now!!! :D And I think it would look a lot cleaner too.

Aren't you worried about the weight? Your mpg will most likely go down. :P

I have one on mine Wildluv, be warned, they are a pain to keep shiny. That's why mine is dull, I wanted it to match my wheels...

I just spent $123 with tax on 2 4'x5' .060 sheets of aluminum and probably have around $75 in the angle pieces. Got the angle pieces from Menards. I got the sheets from a steel place. But right now I am not too happy with them. I called them yesterday morning to see if they had any and get prices. Asked them if someone will be there around 12:30 or if they will still be at lunch. The guy said they should be getting back around then. Told him I will be there between 12:30 and 1:00. Got there about 1ish. Told the lady what I wanted. She said they would have to shear it and give them about an hour. So I went and ate some lunch, stopped by a buddys work which is close to the metal shop, and got back about an hour and a half later. The proceed to tell me that they ran out of that gauge earlier that morning. Man was I PI$$ED OFF!! They said they would have some the next day. So I called today at lunch and they had it already. I paid for it yesterday. Got it home tonight to a buddys shop who is helping me, and the aluminum is all stratched to $hit!! Now he isn't very happy. He goes to this place all the time to get stuff. So may be making a 3rd trip to town.
So I am so long winded, just needed to do some venting!! :D

I was wondering about that. I even thought about having it painted red to match the truck.

Got the front sheet on. Just test fitting, need to do some fine tuning. That is just dirt, not scratches!! :D

Ill repeat what someone told me back in '84 when I lowered my '83 Chevy 1/2ton.
"You just ruined that truck. You will never be able to use it as a work truck now."

So I told him, "I never planned on it. It's a short bed 1/2 ton with the Silverado package. If I needed a work truck for working, I would have gotten a 1 ton long bed Custom Deluxe." :x

So what I'm getting at is...... Your truck looks great , the cover is awesome. And you will never be able to help a friend move with that truck. :P

  Thanks Rondog. Your story is kinda like about my '88 Chevy 1 ton dually crewcab with a 454. People always say "That won't get very good gas mileage". And I always tell them "I didn't buy it for gas mileage, I bought it for towing. If I wanted gas mileage I would buy a Geo Metro!!!"  Also I don't think my Luv would be able to haul very much as about 3/4 of the box floor has been cut out.
