Do the plate put the engine mount in the same place as the earlier SB chevy blocks. The bolt in adapters come forward, looks to be close the the position you have now fore and aft. I have'nt seen the newer blocks, to to see where they moved the motor mount location. Also in relation to the crank center line.

rob, id have to measure against an sbc.. not sure.

heres the ls6 intake and my throttle body bolted up... looking like im gonna have to either push motor back to run a radiator, condenser and efan(s), or sacrifice something. id like to just push the motor back some to simplify everything, but then i dont cause i dont usually like the look of cut firewalls... we will see!

got the cab off last night. going to widen the front part of the frame so it will clear my longtubes. i will like this way better so if i want to upgrade to a better set of headers/coated ones they will drop in no problems.

If you don't need too much, you can recontour the firewall. use a 5 lb hammer and care fully plan your strokes. The with a body hammer and dollies clean it up. You could gain up to 2 inches and once it's together, you won't notice. Usually takes up less room inside than cutting.

got some more work done today with the help from a friend...

got the motor n tranny out..
Image

then we got the bed off.. lets in a nice amount of light. i really like it.
Image
Image
Image

made a little wood cart with some casters, rolled cab out to shed
Image

work smart not hard:haha:
Image

rolled out to clean and take a little break
Image

back at it...
Image

how we ended for the day...
Image
Image
Image
Image

so all together, we got the motor/tranny out, bought wood, built cart, bed cleaned out, bed off, gas tank out, shocks off, most little bracketry cut off that isnt going to be needed, frame half ass cleaned up in the spot we are widening it... probably a few other little things but whatever.

tomorrow im gonna do alot of measurements etc and cut off the front 2 body mounts. and hopefully get the frame widened...

Holy crap you've covered alot of ground there. I just want to get mine finished as a stock vehicle. Can't wait to see the completed project.

Have you looked at the 81-82 luv chassis as they are wider in the front section but from the looks of them they are the same cab mount width they look like a perfect fit for a project like yours.

Sweet. But that would require me to find another chassis. We can widen mine for free.
