Cam ended up being a custom comp cam with the specs of 256/266 .701/.707 on 108 . I got all the parts to the machinist . Block has been line bored, clearenced and cylinders bored . Rotator should be at the balancer within the week . Looking at 2 weeks ( 14 days ) before the motor is done . Carb is finished . Dan Divinchi custom built a Holley 750 HP i had . 910 CFM was the flow numbers based on head flow , cam size , fuel specific gravity blah , blah , blah Should be a nice piece . Looks like we are going to chassis dyno the combo if it all comes together before the first race (30 days away) . If not i will run on the beat up motor the first race to allow a full 30 days before the next race or wait til summer break . Ill post some pics of everything coming up .

You really aren't playing. Aluminum heads, high rise intake, light weight roller rockers, with stud girdles. What kind of harmonic balancer is that? It would also be interesting to know a little about the short block. Running in the sixes back to back apparently isn't enough, so I know you've got something. I had a 355cu sbc that was at about 550hp. If you remember, give us a reminder as to when you are going to the track.

This is the nicest piece i had. 220 AFR comp port heads , GM high rise single plane intake , 1.7 rockers and AFR stud gurdles making .745/.748 lift ATI balancer , Lunati crank , Carrillo rods , JE pistons , all balanced 920 cfm carb . We are going to have to screw up not to make 625 on motor . The motor in the truck is a 385 CI with small hyd roller and smaller heads . This is 392.4 . I just call it a 396 cause poeple know 396 and 392.4 you have to go through the whole story . 3.850 x 4.030 with a 6 inch rod and most people are lost by that time .

A couple of things have changed rules wise down here and i really never intended to build this much motor . The main 7.0 index in the area has changed to 6.50 . Also wanted to be able to run Super Street in NHRA which is a 10.90 index . Needed to be able to run the number in the heat , which i couldnt do . It would stray into 11.0's in the heat . Also the faster cars in bracket rracing watch the race through the windsheild not the mirrors .

Looking good Hotrod80! You should have no problem running 6.50 with that setup. I thought my .656 lift cam was big for a sbc but after looking at your build my cam is just a baby.
Do you know when the next 6.50 race is? I too want to run in that class.

I am not 100% sure when the first race is . I think the March 1st race is 5.80 only . Not sure on that either .

Just an update : i have not gotton the new motor ready to go in and last weekend was the season opener . I was at the house changing the oil and trans fluid in the old combo and was lokking over at the box with ths Divinci built 750 HP posted above > i had been working on another 750 demon to do some compaiarison to my existing demon and thought what the heck lets throw the divinci on . HAVE THIS MAN FIX YOUR CARBS ! i never touched a screw . right out of the box awesome response , good idle , crisp clean transition . Truck went .2 faster wit only fluid change and carb swap . this is in compaireable air conditions aples to apples .

On another note i was junk Saturday all day and started bad Sunday , but ended up going to 8 cars . Should have left the truck alone and switched to the long travel brake button . Still learning how to race every race .

No racing until Late may so im about to start the engine swap . A buddy called me up and mentioned the Ford show this weekend . So i went in my Powerstroke work truck . On the way in i bought the street Ford ttech card and ended up runner up in the class . The air and the truck were all over the place . In the semi finals i dialed 18.31 and it went 18.45 out the back door . In the finals i dialed hard at 18.45 and i broke out with a 18.32 on the brakes . You cant slow a 7700 # truck down from 74 mph like the Luv . Anyway:

Sounds like fun to me. 18's at 74mph? After driving the Luv, it must have seemed like slo-mo.

I used to think it was a local affliction, but I see it has spread all over the United States, and there is no known cure at this time. To remain unaffected don't get too close because it can be very contagious.

Man with that setup I dont see any reason why you cant run 5.80s. The water is fine come on in. Not to mention 10k payout at the next race....

Yes ,, i plan on moving to 6.50 for sure since 7.0 is gone . I may run some 5.80 stuff also if it fits in the schedule . Main goal is still a Wally or an Iron man . It should run 6.0ish so a small shot in the plate will get it done for 5.80 .
