I just got a trooper with a 2.6 and a 5 speed and i'm planning to swap all the running gear into my LUV. Now the transmission is hydraulic clutch instead of cable, can i got the ealrier LUV hydraulic clutch parts and bolt them to my 1980? or will I have to do some fab work and will it even work? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I think it has been done.

Also...... You don't need two identical posts to get answers here.

Are you planning to bring over the full efi system/computer with it or go with a 2.3 intake and carb?

Beyond that I do not know, I would imagine the parts will line up fairly well but I would think you will need to to at least some light fabbing to get it to fit since your truck didn't have the hydraulic setup it may need holes drilled or a thin plate added to strengthen the firewall for the mc.
would it be a huge deal to use the trooper pedal and master cyl? Since you already have it that would seem like the best route if you can make it work so all the lines and fittings match up.

I was just lookin at my cab and it looks like all they did was cover the holes that the master cylinder should be. looks like I could just buy earlier LUV hydraulic parts and hook them up and it should work. I just don't know for sure. I did a search but couldn't find much for this particular setup. Any help would be appreciated

I'm pretty sure it can be done with early luv parts it would make much more sense at the factory to just plate it off when cabs changed to cable. Just can't remember who did it on the forum I'm sure I saw it done somewhere here

Have you measured the trooper mc and mounting for comparison? If you can make that work with minor fab work it would save time finding parts and differences in mc size, pressure needed etc.. always good to use the master and slave cylinders from the same rig if possible.

Damn I wish I knew who that was too haha. I found on Rockauto you can buy the parts new and im pretty sure the pedal assembly is the same on my truck as the older ones so all I would basically need is the line which isn't too hard to get. I did this to my old '79 Camaro and had to fab up everything and I just don't wanna get into that again but if I have to then oh well haha. Just was hoping there was an easier way to do it

Been there done that; you will need everything from an early luv drill the holes and you are set and when I say everything that mea.ns the pedal, rod ,and master. I used a hole saw to drill out the big hole. Use the hole saw as a guide to find the center then saw out the hole. The pedal is a one bolt deal to change and all years will interchange get the lines to and between the luv and Trooper you will get it to work.
Use a 2.3 head and it will give you a dist. and carb for your 2.6

Awesome, that is the reply I have been looking for. Thank you. And im gonna use the fuel injection. Hopefully it all works out well? Did you do the 2.6/2.3 swap? and if so I'm just wondering how much of a difference it really makes. I'm assuming quite a bit but I'm just curious to hear from someone who has done it

Stock luv is 80hp.
2.3 is 110hp
The 2.6 is 120... so 1.5x
