By throttle body im assuming u mean the tbi system and not a bare throttle body
If so you could put one on if u adapted it to your intake. And could then control it with a basic megasquirt 1 efi computer for fuel only and keep using the stock ignition. Or add a trigger wheel and go with programmable ignition as well..
Havent seen it done on our 1.8 engines yet but the tbi is very easy to work with. Almost like a carb with two injectors.

You can also control it with a stock tbi ecu if you figure out the wiring for the ecm you use...

'84-'87 Isuzu Impulse non-turbo used an EFI G200Z engine, the EFI is a direct bolt-on to the G180Z LUV engine, the electronics should be adaptable also. If you don't elect to use the entire Isuzu system it would at least be a better starting point than the carb'd intake to adapt some other type.

there are definitely better bolt on alternatives, at one point I had an impulse intake with some eclipse 420cc injectors and the matching turbo manifold/turbo, ended up selling them tho.
a lot of Isuzu parts interchange from similar year ranges into the early 80s
