I had the world's squeekiest brakes even though they were brand new so I put slotted/drilled rotors and organic pads on it and now its whisper quiet braking but I had a hard time getting the outer plates back on the hubs. I had to turn them a whole bunch before I finally got them to slide on smoothly. Then I couldn't lock them on jack stands. So I drove it around block and they are still hard to turn. Like I have to use pliers to turn them. I don't want to blow them up. They are in free mode now. Can I drive while I'm figuring this out? I have other cars but I like the mileage in the LUV. Should I take them apart again?

Thanks

Mike

i would disassemble the center of the hub on one side at least and make sure you put the spring in behind the locking mechanism right and that nothings overtightened or loose inside.. Im about to disassemble my passenger side to put the new drilled/slotted rotor on the passenger side. I can get pics of the process in order so you can backtrack and see if its all the same

Ok I got it. Had to mess with it for a bit make sure it's all lined up. I think when I turned with pliers it may have bent out a little flange that keeps the spring from popping apart but I was able to bend it back straight with channel locks. Whole job turns nice and easy on both sides now. I highly recommend the ebay brake rotors. These things are silent and should last for a very long time.

u probably got the same ones i did  around $60 little less... I think they were a basic trooper caliper a shop took and drilled/slotted, I spent a bit of time looking at the machining on them and part of the engraved edge saying thicknesses was machined off when they slotted them
