So we started this project at the end of last summer in hopes to be racing in the 2012 season here in Oregon. Racing starts in about 3 weeks and we still have a lot of work to do. I thought I would post some pictures of the work we have done so far. We got the truck for $200, when we started to work on it we found several interesting things about the truck. The bed is not a 72 it is the newer style from sometime after 75. The clutch was another interesting one. Looking at all the parts catalogs we found there are 2 clutches listed for this truck in some. A 6 inch and 8 inch with different spline counts, and about $100 price difference, needless to say we don't have the cheap one. :x

This is the picture after we installed 3in blocks in the rear and turned the torsion bars all the way.

The 72 runs a different clutch then the rest. I think it's a 10 spline.

We will be running most of our races at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, but we hope to be able to hit some of the other tracks here in Oregon also. And just a little more info on the clutch. In '72 there are 2 clutch’s available. A 7-7/8" 24 tooth or a 8" 10 tooth. I know the 8" was used with the Isuzu G161 motor, good luck finding that information it took us forever. I still don't know what the difference is between the two motors. If anyone does I would love to know.

Thanks for looking. I will keep going with new photos as more work gets done. We just got a new tube bender so I hope the roll cage will come soon.
