hellow my names john and i have a 79 chevy luv 4x4 and the stock 1.8l is about shot has a rod knocking and am thinkig hard on either sbc or 4.3l my main concern is the trans and transfercase will the original 4sp bolt up to a sbc? or will the original transfercase bolt up to a th350? im on a budget so i cant sped a lot just a little toy for now or does any no wat other motors will bolt up to the original trany? i woul love as much feed back as possible thanks!

There are several half completed threads on here, and a couple of completed ones. Basically, you will have to replace the tranny and transfer case. Most are trying to do an SAS front end swap, using a toyota front diff...

well i have thought a bout getting an s10 trans and transfercase cuz i no the 4.3l bell housing is the same for a sbc but another question are the 79 toyota trucks have same front fenders?

You'll have to swap the tranny & t-case if you go with any engine other than another Isuzu 4 cylinder. And the big problem is finding an engine that will clear the front driveline.
Your picture must show '79 frame/running gear (1st year for 4x4) topped by a '77 (last year for quad headlights & wing windows) or older body- correct?

im not sure lol this is the first love iv had so i dont no much about them yet the title reads 79 but it may have had other pannels put on it im not sure
