Hey every body. I'm new to this site, so don't get too mad if I screw something up. I've got a 79 luv 4x4. I have put it on Chevy half ton axles. It also has a fuel injected 305 out of a 92 camaro. The problem I'm having is getting the steering to work. I have a Toyota ifs steering box. I can't figure out how to hook it up to the 10 bolt front axle. There's no place to put a steering ARM on the passenger side. Any ideas?

That thing is Sweet! is it just rattle canned? It looks cool ether way!

Ive heared more people just using chevy steering boxes. Are you having trouble hooking up steering linkage? Um wy couldnt you do somthing like this? Hope this helps.

(I know this isnt the same but its just aftermarket linkage that you bend and weld to what you need and you get rid of the ball joints. I read that people are very happy with the setup and how they steer. and they are very strong.)

I've thought about doing it that way, but I think my leaf springs will get in the way. I have it set up now like a Ford. Were the steering link goes to the tie rod. I flipped the torrid around and have the steering link hooked to the spot were the steering stabilizer would go. The steering feels really mushy. I think the link " which is z shaped" is flexing. I think i will need to but a flat top knuckle for that passenger side. You said people are useing chevy boxes? What kind are they useing, do you know?

The inside of the tire is even with the outside of the fender. What about an s10 box?

Those giant shackles out front aren't helping your mushy feeling. Find a flat top knuckle for the passenger side. The toy box is fine

I think I've got a cure for the shackles. I plan to redo them so that they will be shorter. I've thought about the knuckle, but I don't know who to go through for it.

Craigslist/wrecking yards. They came on some of the earlier dana 44's. You'll need to get it milled/drilled, and a steering arm to go on top of it also. What's your castor angle at?

That's a slam good question, lol. I had it set up with what the factory truck would have had. But with the long shackles, its changed it a lot. The truck is in Oregon at my grandparents house, so I won't be able to say for sure till I get back there in march.

independent4x.com has replacement flat top knuckles and the related steering components, somewhat pricey but it will give you an idea of what you need.
'73-'77 Jeep Wagoneers have Dana 44 flat top knuckles, later ones don't. Don't know if they are drilled or just flat top.

I checked out that web site, and they got some damn good prices. Their steering knuckles are the cheapest I've seen so far. But the ones they were showing were Dana 44. Are the knuckles the same as the ones on a 10 bolt?
