To change the rear carrier to LSD you first have to have the LSD carrier from a RWD Turbo Impulse (mid 80's through 1989). If the LSD carrier is still attached to the stock Impulse 3.90 gears you have to remove it, then remove your stock carrier, attach the 4.10 ring gear to the LSD carrier and install the LSD carrier/stock ring gear into your stock housing, which requires shimming the new carrier to obtain the proper ring and pinion contact pattern. It's not a complete differential tear down and rebuild since the pinion gear was not disturbed, but it's probably best left to someone with differential rebuild experience. One down side, you have a 20 year old LSD, the clutches may or may not be in good shape. On the upside if it works well you have way better traction, probably out $300-$400.
