 Post subject: clicking in front end

I have an '80 LUV. when driving or coasting forward or back there is a clicking noise coming from the front end. where should I start looking? Thanks.

it's a 4x4. the click happens whether or not the hubs are in and seems to happen at slow or faster speed, even just pushing it across the shop floor. I haven't taken the front brakes or anything off yet to check but it doesn't sound like it's in the brakes.

if the shafts aren't rotating, it may be in the front case. . . . Although it shouldn't be rotating if it's not engaged...

Mine recently did the same thing behind one of the brake pads theres a thin metal plate that vibrated loose hence the rattle.

If you have a shop jack up all four wheels and let it idle in gear.
