Hey all, was wondering what to put between the transfer case & gear box as a gasket. I'm afraid of altering mesh distances or worse. I dropped the tranny to replace the clutch (1979 model).

Small clutch wear disc on these things, eh? Any upgrades for stock setup? Any non-obvious pitfalls? Haynes manual is woefully inadequate....

i used a simple roll of gasket material. the thin stuff works just fine. i sprayed it with the copper spray a gasket.

Great, that's what i got ready this weekend (except for the copper spray, I'll need to get a hold of that - thanks!).
The pilot bearing was a first class nightmare. It was the only thing that got started this entire weekend. I wound having to weld a threaded sleeve to it to pull it out, twice! It was cracked & glazed. I'm afraid it was cracked when inserted, as I am having difficulty with that too! Any clues?
