OK, so what I initially thought was a blown shackle bushing, upon closer inspection,
is in fact a broken leaf in the leaf-pack.
The upper MAIN spring, actually. And it would appear an inner leaf has broken off as well.
:( I was wheeling it pretty hard!
I was thinking about using Toyota leaf springs as replacements. Anyone know if they will fit on the LUV? (IE: work?) Otherwise, im looking at either hunting Craigslist/Junkyards for that rare LUV, paying a bunch of $$ for custom springs locally, or a bunch of $$ for shipping on OEM replacements.
Alternately, does anyone know if an entire 'Yota rear end will fit, and/or how much fab is involved?

Well, I ended up finding a LUV in the local wrecking yard, so I'm good there now.
But, I would still be interested in hearing from anyony who has done a Toyata rear swap, and what was involved.

I had a toyo rear on mine once. It fit fine but the rear end was a tad wider.

What did you use from the 'Yota? just the axle? Did you use the LUV shock mount/axle locator
and leaf packs, Or, did you do a full Toyota transplant?

Oh, do you recall what year (range) that rear end was from?

I appreciate it. Looking to eventually lock the rear end, and a 'Yota rear swap seemed like the most straightforeward way of doing that. Good to know it will work.
