Ok making this site to find out things about my luv i would love for everyone to post anything yall may know good/bad about the 4x4 luvs.

I am wondering how the luv 4x4 parts perform off road, such as the motor 1.8l small motor but is it good?
gearing in the rear end ?
the tranmission?
transfer case?
and the tires of course?

i am looking at sanding my stock 14inch rims down and powder coating them black then puting a set of super swamper tsl radial 225/85/r14 onto them.... now the question is will they fit on the rim? and will they fit on my truck without me lifting the truck at all?

any kind of upgrades i should do or anyone should do for a 4x4 luv?

now i am just now geting started back on the luv i have had a baby and had to buy my gf a car, so now i am back on working on my luv as i told everyone on my other post were i keep my progresss. the motor is tore out and in the shop....so any help is reallly really apreciated.

Off roading...do you mean typical off roading or are you talking about rock climbing, mud bogging competition type 4 wheeling.

My stock '79 4x4 does fine and I've never had an issue with gearing or power, (as long as you don't expect more than 85 hp) I still have the stock rims on it with 205 75 series tires on it.

My son and I are putting the finishing touches on an '80 4x4 Luv and he decided on 15 inch rims and with Trail Mark 225 75R15 all terrain tires and we have some slight fender scrub. We've already adjusted the torsion bars up quite a ways and I don't want to top them out so we might be trimming the fenders a bit. I'm kind of surprised at this. I thought we could accomodate tires of that size. If you're planning to go with the taller 225 85R14 then you will have something to look for with clearance.

rock climbing, mud bogging, trail riding, w/e but not major swaps like axels and stuff.....trying to keep stock but minor upgrades.

as for tires ima crank t bars and ima put a 2 inch body lift maybe 3 inch i dont want to have to adjust anything when puting the body lift i wanna just pop it on and be done with it lol....

so 2 inch out of t bars and 2 inch body lift i wonder if i can fit the 225/85/r14 tsl on it easy???......

Only one tire will spin in 4 wd so if you are looking to rock climb you might want to find lockers somewhere (I don't know where though) or break out a welder but I wouldn't recommend that route. I would think the two inch body lift should give you the clearance you are looking for with the size tires you mentioned.

Does anyone know where LOCKERS can be found for these rigs? ANYONE?

I have a hard time believing that a good machine shop would bore a block without the pistons on hand.

The kit above is priced pretty good.

You can also search E-bay under Isuzu,Trooper, and Luv trucks for your parts.

I am no longer selling the luv truck, i am actually almost done with it the motor has been bored .75mm or 30 over i think the head has been shaved 20 thousands, i ordered the re ring kit off of northernautoparts.com i took the block to another shop and had them bore it and they got me the matching piston rings. i have done quite a bit of work on the truck which can be seen on my progress page, the truck is going to be beast i really just got to finish painting it.....i have the fenders hood pretty much front clip done. tomarrow i should have the engine bay painted black and the whole cab painted grabber green, the interior is looking good also.....anyways guys keep this thread going about 4x4 stuff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you find any lockers? If you are planning on doing any more than just trail riding you will want some type of locker ATLEAST in the front. Trust me....

to be honest i will be doing minor off roading, i like to drive in water.....so ima seal my cap, then the hard part is going to be making a snorkel for the carb, i like to mud which i will be puting a 3 inch body lift, cranking the t bars, and puting some super swamper tsl on the stock 14 inch rim, then i like to mess around with rock crawling but nothing really crazy to were my truck is about to flip....so thats why i was wanting to know about the terra flex revolver shackles.....for flex.....because the luv trucks do not have susp lifts.....but my luv is coming together really well to be honest, tomarrow i should have the truck all painted and finished then ima wait for the motor to be put together,.
