Got myself a Dana 44 full width and I'm going at it. I'll be running leaf springs on all four corners, and probably a full width 14 bolt in the rear. Woot woot!

If anyone needs any IFS components, I've got em in good shape. And if anyone wants a little lift for the front of their LUV, I've got the correct Trooper upper control arms and ball joints so you can do the ball joint flip and the arms themselves get you an inch or two. So overall, about 2 and 1/2 to 3 inches lift.

nice how exactly are you adding the leaf springs on the front? i've got a system from a 75' K5 blazer and was wondering what would be the easiest way to put it on my LUV.

I'm using the rear springs out of another LUV, but since the frame Y's inboard in the front, I'll be mounted the spring hanger in the rear on the underside of the frame, and the shackle up front outboard. I haven't seen anyone do it like this in the past, but I want parallel springs.

I'll letcha know how it works out.

axles and wheels like your running would defiantly merit the use of a SBC :ebiggrin or even a BBC V8 8O

Currently I'm going to run the 1.8 til it dies while I get the suspension tweaked to perfection. Then, when it does die, I'd like to swap in a diesel engine and a Dana 60 and some 42's.

But for now its actually a 10 bolt up front, and wheelbase will be about 104", perfect.

I'm plannin on running 37.5" tires. So I may have to have a heavier right foot than normal. It shouldn't take long.

Well, I wish Chevy and Dodge wouldn't have discontinued their 4.5L (or something like that) diesel 1/2 ton project, or Isuzu would ship some of those damn 3.5L diesels over here.

Anyways, it'd be the biggest small diesel I can find, or the smallest big diesel. More than likely I'll opt for the smallest big diesel... Anyone know if a 6 liter will fit in the LUVs engine bay? :)

i remember seeing a 6.1L into a mini-truck swap somewhere recently not sure where or which specific model of truck it was it was a while ago
it defiantly wouldnt be an easy swap but it would be awesome once it was done! and a midsized diesel would turn a set of 42's on the 44 and 14 bolt real nice 8)

The Olds 5.7 and GM did build a V6 diesel that was a 3.8 or 4.3 i don't remember for sure but i think it was the 4.3. There is also the Perkins diesel used in some Rangers and S-10s then there is the Isuzu diesel in the NPR cab over trucks that is a 4 cyl then there is the 6 cyl one .

They were in early 80's Olds cutlass sirius Wrong wheel drive and some Buicks i think but after looking at them i think they would be easy to convert to rear drive if you find one.

Another one you might think about is the 4BT Cummins (same as the Dodge but a 4 cyl ) these were in a lot of step vans and had TH 400 hooked up to them.
