Does anyone know where to find lower ball joints for 79/80 4X4? I am not having any luck on the interwebs and neither is my parts guy. They are a different part number than the 4X2 according to my shop manual. Does the 4X2 version fit?

I just looked them up on Autozone

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalo ... e=Duralast

I bought mine there a couple of years ago. Duralast isn't the best brand but not the worst either.

The 81-82 LUVs and the PUPs use the same ball joint and i think the early Troopers.

I got my upper and lowers on Ebay.

Cool, thanks. I never have any luck with Autozone, so I don't even try them.

Here in OK and surrounding area Autozone, Advanced and Orielly's all gang up within a block of each other for some reason. It happens too often to be a coincindence. I used to get most of my everyday stuff from Autozone but not anymore.

My local parts shop flaked out on me. I think he didn't want to do the searching for the parts. So I have a bunch of stuff on a cart list on the Auto Zone site. I still need sway bar bushings though. I need to do some searching for them?

Rondog- measure the diameter of your sway bar, go to your local Autozone, back to the area that sells aftermarket helper springs, shock bushings, u-bolts, shackles & the like. They usually stock red greasable polyurethane sway bar bushings in various sizes for under $15. They may not have the diameter you need in stock but the back of the package will tell you what is available & they can order. They have the sway bar end link kits also, but you may have to cut the tube and bolt to the exact length. Chances are if you call they won't have a clue how to look it up on a computer.
Not sure where the sway bar bushings mount on a stock 4x4 Luv, you may have to replace the grease zerk with a 90 degree one- I had to do that on my Trooper so I could grease them without dropping the front skid plate.
