I just swapped in a 2.3L Trooper II motor with matching 5 speed transmission. Noticed a whine in neutral when I was driving the Trooper. When the motor was out, I checked the clutch and throwout bearing for any issues. Everything was working great and looked good when I took the transmission off. Now that I have it in the Luv, I noticed the front driveline rotating really slowly in neutral/2H. What do I need to do to fix this? I would guess it's just a problem with the transfer case not fully disengaging and some parts need replacement. Any help would be great. Thanks

A few questions for you. Does it make any abnormal noise when you drive it? Does it work OK in 4WD and shift like it's suppose to between 4 Hi and 4Lo? What happens if you leave it in neutral 2H and lock the front hubs...does the front drive shaft keep spinning and try to move the truck? I haven't noticed mine doing this but I have never checked.

False alarm... I did not have my new rear driveline in and the oil filled in the transmission yet. So it was not coming out of gear completely after all the messing around I did with the engine/trans swap and making the shift boots work. As soon as I filled the oil up, it stopped. Luckily I only had the engine running for a couple minutes to check for leaks and stuff, so I think I didn't hurt anything. Clutch has a problem, but transfer case is fine. I guess if anybody notices their front drive shaft moving a little in neutral, the transfer case is super low on oil! Thanks for trying to help.

hmmmm, this may be something or nothing at all. I have seen what I guess would be called residual movements of drive shafts before like you mentioned in other vehicles but I've just never checked my Luv.
