just bought a built 327 7000 (execellent condition) miles for
$300, looking to put in luv, what type of tranny (manual) and transferr case can someone suggest? Totally aware that I'll be upgrading axles and rearends. Looking for anyone who can help with ideas on how to make this work. Building for rockcrawling.

Thanks :?

I know you looking for a manual, im going with a t-350 with a mild 327, im using the stock dana 20 transfercase, axles in it are a dana 44 up front and the stock rearend out back(dont know what it is). For a 4spd i would go with a muncie or if you can find something, and if you could id go with the dana 20 as well, my last luv had the np-203 in it. im not an expert but thats just my opinion.

You might consider a TH350C trans wired to a switch. I have mandrel bent production fender well headers for that conversion. Can post pics if interested. See www.photobucket.com/v8luv Build several years ago with the dana axle and divorced transfer case. If you can find a copy of Four Wheeler magazine Nov 77, you will see a toyota that I built. More power and better mileage than the 4cylinder.

i would look at the sm420. has a great granny and is bomb proff. will mate to a gm 205. also indestructable but not that great of low. advanced adapters can get you a adapter to go to a dana 300. then you get great gearing and a strong case. but for the rocks i dont think a automatic can be beat. if you are already done with this swap let me know how it went and what you think. i see this is a old topic.
