There is a guy in Idaho that is on this site with a purple luv that is on a Trooper chassis.
I have a 86 trooper chassis in my shop that i picked up complete for a 100 bucks and the luv will not bolt direct to it but it can be done with some work.I got mine for the 5spd. and the power steering bot the bonus is the 2.3 intake and dizzy plus the vented rotors and better upper control arms.

tjwhite, you made reference to the 2.3 intake, will that intake bolt directly to the 1.8 and use the trooper carb. or will the intake bolt up and need to use a different carb. i found a 32/36 weber that im going to use. what difference is the 2.3 compared to the 1.8 intake. thanks

The reason for getting the 2.3L intake is to put it on a 2.6L motor to make it work with a carb. The 2.6L Isuzu motor only came in a fuel injected form. The intake from a 2.3L will fit the intake ports and bolts but will leak water on a 1.8L unless you can figure out something to block off the tiny water hole between #3 and #4 intake ports on the head. I believe it is meant as a bypass for the thermostat to allow just a little bit of water to always be circulating through the system. Anyway, the 2.3L intake doesn't hook it into the water jacket or provide material to cover it and seal the gasket up.

not to bash Calmini too bad, but while they do make a good product, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Better bet would be to go with products from Indy4x or Darlington Off-Road...better prices, and both companies are very active in the Isuzu 4x4 community.

and to stay back on topic...x2 all of what 800xl said 8)

Just to pad my post count and be off topic:

On the Calmini thing, ditto to what Rezkid said x2 carry the 4 to the nth power. 8) Only thing on my shopping wish list from Calmini is the header, not many other places you can get a tri-y design instead of the 4 into 1 like pacesetter. Of course if I could find a place to order the darn thing from the manufacturer directly I think I would. Matt over at www.independent4x.com is the man for just about everything else.

Yep...and if you use the 2.3's carb intake plus it's distributor/ignition module, then you can grab an aftermarket 2.6 head and build one mean little 2.6. If you want to drop in the biggest and baddest built little 4-banger that will bolt right into a Luv with out too many mods, then IMHO that is definitely the way to go. There's one running around town here in a bagged Pup longbed and it's damn quick for a 4-banger.

BTW..the Luv's stock 1.8 puts out around 75 hp stock - but the 2.6 puts out around 125 hp stock and the weight difference between the two engines isn't even worth mentioning. Once my built 1.9 Impulse G200z starts going to hell in my '78 shortbed stepside - that's the next engine I'm going to build as much as parts available will allow.

(Unless of course the local guy that already has a built 2.6 in his Pup wrecks his truck and/or decides to sell it to me....lol)

Hey 800xl...you reckon the G180 1.8's Offy intake and headers will bolt up to a 2.6?

Offy on a 2.6L? Hmm I think the only gotcha would be the water jacket in the offy. The 1.8L has that little hole in the head between #3 and #4 intake holes and the 2.3L and 2.6L have nothing there. If you try to put a 2.3L intake on a 1.8L you have to figure out how to block that hole in the head or coolant will leak out. Putting a stock 1.8L on a 2.3L or 2.6L you have to figure out how to block the leak coming from the intake manifold instead.
