5th gear should be a 1:1, like the LUV's 4th, so, if you'd like to get it going a bit faster, try a 4 speed w/ overdrive... I dunno... try the search, there's been plenty of talk about 5 speeds, and someone hazta know more about it than I do...

Typical 5 speeds have similar 1st through 4th gears as 4 speeds with 5th as an overdrive. 4th is 1:1.

Search for my posts and you will find reference to an Isuzu Trooper transmission that will fit with frame modifications.

I'm saying most 5sp trannys will drop RPMs in 5th gear compared to your average 4sp.

If you search for my posts, you'll find a Trooper tranny model number to use. It bolts right to the motor. You only have to remove and fabricate a rear tranny mount crossmember and enlarge the holes in the floor of the cab for the shifters.
