Anybody using a Weber 34 or Weber 32/36 carb on a truck that has stock A/C? :?:

The reason I ask, according to the Weber dealer, there is no consideration on either the 34 or 32/36 for the idle-up feature when using the A/C. On the stock carb, there's a solenoid that punches up the idle about 200 RPM when idling when the A/C is turned on.

According the Weber dealer, if you install either the 34 or 32/36 and turn on the A/C, the engine will die.

Just another quandry with converting.... Thanks all.

That's the price you pay for performance. Just rest your foot on the pedal when the A/C kicks on while at a stop.

That's a mighty high price to pay for something that doesn't fully fit the application. That's about as bad as Weber saying just set you idle up 200 RPM in the summer. :x I think Weber should come up with something that would work for the price they charge given it's a factory option. I guess they know they've about got the market covered for Luv's and there's not many more options.

I'm not after performance to start with; just a reliable carb that will fix my problem of a rough idle. I've rebuilt the Hitachi twice with no better results. I've checked for vaccum leaks and found nothing.

I'm starting to wonder if it could be the plate (not gasket) that sits between the carb and intake. The original one crumbled into three pieces during one of the rebuilds and I had a buddy who owns a machine job make me one out of aluminum using the old one as a template. There's a sleeve that fits into that plate that I'm wondering could be the problem. I'm thinking of taking it out just to see if it would help.

Trust me, if I could find a resolution for less than $320 (the cost for the Weber kit), I would jump on it.

Not sure how you could adapt this. Fast Idle Solenoid.
https://www.holley.com/46-74.asp

They used to use a electric solenoid that would push the throttle lever up when the A/C compressor is turned up. It was adjustable.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Thanks for the info.

I understand. I noticed the price ain't cheap. $73 for a universal kit when I've already laid down $300+ for a carb gets a bit pricey for my wallet. If I go the route of a new carb I believe I'll tweak the idle up a bit in the summer as someone previously suggested.

I did disconnect the current solenoid on the hitachi carb, let the truck idle and turned on the A/C. The truck did not die so it may run w/out the solenoid.
